How can I load 2 versions of CivIII. I have my current version modded for the GOTM and would like to install a 2nd vanilla version. When I run setup from the CD it wants to remove my current version. I tried renaming my Civilization folder and change the properties in my Civ icon but the game crashed.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

EDIT: I'm running Windows

You will need to load Civ III vanilla and the 1.29f patch into your GOTM directory. Once you have done this, copy the entire directory into your Civ III vanilla directory and create a shortcut to the Vanilla_Civ\civ3.exe on you desktop.

Once this is done, go ahead and install the GOTM patches in your GOTM directory.

Both versions should co-exist. I used a similar technique to get Conquests 1.15 and 1.22 in separate directories.

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!! :goodjob: :goodjob:

That worked, since I was already modded I created a "Modded CivIII" folder and copied everything into it (including PTW & C3C) then created shortcut on desktop & target the exe in the new folder. Because I did not have copies of my unmodded resource files, I actual unistalled the old Civ III and reinstalled using the default "Info...." folder. Works great.
