The game is over! It's time to discuss DG5. Before we can discuss anything else, we need to figure out which version of civ we want to play with.

Vanilla Civ3 - We know this well after 4 games.
PTW - More civs, units, and less bugs.
C3C - 1.22. There are problems such as subs not working right, and the AI not forming armies. But, armies are more powerful for the human player.

I feel that we should keep using Vannila Civ3 so that we can include everyone :).

I vote conquests- ppl that dont have it can still participate
but they wont be able to hold elected positons

c3c v1.15

jibberish added to stretch post

edit: FYI Chieftess, there are already 2 more polls on this - right next to yours

no this poll is for what we will play with the other 2 polls were to show who had what

After this poll, and your poll is over, we can decide later which version of Civ3 Conquests we want to play with. (i.e., 1.00, 1.02, 1.12, 1.15, 1.20, 1.22)

Why not vanilla? It seems to me that excluding people from elections because of game version won't be a very good way to get a lot of players.

I agree with Epimethius. If we want people to get involved, we need to go with the version that people have.

I agree with Noldodan and Epimethius. If we want people to be involved in governemt, then we should stick with Vannilla Civ3.

Personally, I don't mind either way. But, C3C does need some serious bugs fixed (sub bug, AI and armies, AI great leaders). I'm surprised no one's picked PTW yet.

Also, another thing to remember - C3C does away with the 2 production cores system. So, that means more corrupt provinces that will only grow large, and have tons of scientists, and probably be worker cities with lots of micromanagement. Not too fun in demogame perspective IMHO. Communism is also the better government, which flies in the face of the Game of Democracy.

We could have a democratic communist state, vaguely like Sweden. But that seems beside the point, since we'll play it as a democracy no matter what (I assume).

Of course we never play in any other form of Government, like, ohh, Despotism, Monarchy, Republic or Anarchy.

C'mon, CT, that was an odd point to make. Personally, I'd like to see how Communism does work, in the game.

Way back when (and I know you're sick of hearing that. ;)), one of the origanal goals was to, "become a democracy".

Well, one thing is, at some point I feel the Demogame should be able to take advantage of the additional features of the expansions, to help change the game up. There will always be people who don't have any of the expansions, meaning that if we wait for EVERYONE to have C3C before updating the Demogame to C3C we will have to wait for everyone to leave or never do it at all.

Personally right now, I'm not sure whether or not we should go on to C3C just yet due to the reason of the exclusion it would force. You lose alot of the experience if you are unable to look at the save.

IF we do use C3C now there would likely have to be a bit of a revolution, a new Demogame News Department, the likes of which has never been seen before, which would give Citizens a chance to view just about everything they'd need to remain active in one consolidated organized location, so people could see a current map, and detailed information from the advisor screens. This would require a staff of at least 3 people I'd think, it's ALOT of work to show city locations w/ the units list for every city, along with current production and build queues.

It may be that all the vocal people have Conquests, but this game is not based off of the vocal people. Its true that they play an important part, but this is a democracy game, and it seems to me that the theme should carry over to here. Everyone here has vanilla. Only a few have PTW. Even fewer have Conquests. If we went with conquests we would end up with a ruling elite, because the lower people without it, such as myself, couldn't do anything. I don't want to be stuck in the judicial.

Sure, conquests would be interesting, but so would a 5CC. And we have to face the facts that the democracy game format simply does not go along with those. Just like with the 5CC, this would probably work fine with a small number of people, but the idea of the demogame is to have a large number of people all praticipating, which is why it has always been vanilla. You can't possibly leave someone out with vanilla. Maybe enough people for a large population will have C3C by DG6, but right now doing this would create a small, ruling elite of those with the game.

actually about 2/3 of the ppl have conquests, but about only 1/2 of the ppl voted for it because they didnt want to leave the other 1/3 out
this was the simple poll:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=89562
in this poll people got confused and thought it meant play not what they have:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=89606

this thread isnt what ppl have but what people think we should play becuase many ppl want to include the other 1/3(which we could even if we played conquests)

we arent a "small ruling elite" or "very few", but a commanding majority :king: :goodjob:
