Queen Teuta of Illyria.

Queen Teuta has been updated - version two is available here.

I'm using Aaglo's bireme for the UU, which doesn't sink if it ends it's turn in a sea square, and comes with lethal sea bombardment. The bireme replaces the galley for the Illyrians.

Here's a city list - I've picked up the names from internet maps and articles. If you can add any, I'd be delighted :) :

Nice job, I like Sojourner more though. :goodjob:

Each to their own, Ankka. Still, there's going to be seven new leaderheads to choose from soon, so you're bound to like some more than others ;) .

Any Idea on Traits? Leaders (Sci and Mil)? You were going to use the Phonecian Bireme as a UU, right?

Yes, it's Aaglo's Phonecian Bireme that I'm using as a UU. The traits I've used are Seafaring and Militaristic. So far I have three military leaders:

Brasidas
Bardylis
Gentius

If anyone has any more (or any other city names) please post them :) .

Actually, here what I have as Mil leaders. Just did soem research, you see.

Bardylis
Grabus
Monunius
Agron
Pinnes

And I set them to Build Off. Land Units, Naval Units, Trade, and Culture

Eh? I actually live in a country once thoroughly occupied with Illyrians (In fact I can trace some of my ancestry to them) and from what I know the most appropriate traits would be seafaring and agricultural. Even militaristic and agricultural would be good considering the naval uu would be a sort of seafaring advantage and those 3 traits are the ones that best represent illyrians.

As for the city list, well the Albanians are the modern descendants of the Illyrians so I'd recommend having Tirana near the bottom.

I'll add Tirana to the list. Please let me know of any other suitable city names :) . Also, I'd like to keep seafaring in there as a trait, but could replace militaristic with agricultural....

Nice!

Seven new leaderheads? Where'd you get the time?

Teuta (you spelt her name wrong :p R8XFT) was the queen of the Illyrians, of the powerful Ardiaei tribe. She acted as regent for her infant son who succeeded his father Agron who drank himself to death. Teuta filled the Mediterranean Sea and destroyed most cities from Illyria to Messenia in the south of Greece, which led to the Greek city of Issa (modern Vis in Croatia) to ask the Romans for help. They sent ambassadors which insulted her, so she had them killed on the return to Italy. Rome declared war and with a lot of luck and strategy against the superior Illyrian navy landed and destroyed the capital of Scodra. All of the immediate Illyrian tribes surrendered to Rome, and Teuta surrended herself.

More cities if you want them: Issa, Pharos, and Doclea.

Well The Cities are good named :goodjob: . and Add Butrint because it's a importiant illyrian City
Also a you made a good job in the leader head :goodjob:
(I know the illyrian history good,Im Albanian :) )

EDIT:Sorry,you addet butrint,it's named Buthront

Tirana was formed by the ottomans in the 16th century.I recomand adding Kruja becaause Tirana is the capital of Albania Since 1922

I think she would make a great leaderhead for my Anasazi tribe. I had been using the old Inca leaderhead that was popular before Conquests was released. But this is better!

1. The reason i wouldn't say seafaring because while the Illyrian navy was very powerful, a great deal of the Illyrians weren't on the coast. On the inside they were primarily a herding people (Dalmatia comes from the tribe delmae, who are probably named after the word delme, which means sheep in Albanian unless I'm mistaken). Many tribes on the inside of Illyria were also very militaristic, including the tribe around Sarajevo which resisted the Romans until a.d. 9. Also while, like I said, the navy was powerful, it's not like they set out and explored new lands like the Phoenicians or Vikings. If you give them a naval UU, which would be perfect, then that would sort of be like a seafaring advantage initself, and would allow you to give them the other three obvious traits (agricultural and militaristic).

2. I didn't know that about Tirana. Maybe it should still be near the bottom since it's an important city right now, and although established by the ottomans it has always (I'm assuming) historically been an Albanian city. Sort of like Sarajevo.

1.I dont know... Militaristic or Agricultural,But seafaring YES.
You'r right,The tribe Dalmae-Dalmatet(in Albanian) had his name from the word Sheep-Delme(in Illyrian)-Dele(in Albanian). The word. One of the illyrian tribes was called Albanet wich lived in today Albania.Thats because we are called Albanians(Only we call us Shqipetar and Albania is called Shqiperi)
2.Tirana should be addet but also kruja and many other cities.I think i will make a List of Illyrian Cities.
