Kicking and Screaming!

Five City Challenge!

Think of the new opportunities and experiences this will give you! This has proved to be an exciting variant in succession games, and will provoke new discussion in the DG, focusing effort on a limited number of areas. Many new issues will be considered, exposing many people to something new.

Vote for the 5CC!

Is it just me, or is 5CC Challenge a bit of a redundant thread title?

I'm more of a political expert than a civ expert so....um....well....What's a five city challenge? I can guess, but I'm not too sure....

EDIT: I was right. Well, in that case I give a definitive NO. It sounds challenging, but this is a game where we hope to have lots of players simultaneously, and that simply isn't any good with only five cities.

we can still have many players participate, mayors would replace governors and would have control over 1 city, and all the other officals will still be around
we dont want to care as much about winning as we do fun... this will excite our game

I seriously doubt that this has possibilities to attract and maintain a large following, or be too interesting at all. In fact, I'd expect a lot more fighting over control of those cities, since they'll have more power and there'll be less positions to have, so more people would want to be mayor.

5/5 now.....

I would have to agree with Epimethius. I beleve that a 5CC game will scare off many players.

Back down the same road again, back to the same old rut.

C'mon - what are you afraid of? Change? Of something new? Of an experience you don't know enough about?

Be bold! Step forward, accept the challenge, the risk and the reward of something new. If you want to continue the same approach, at a level where winning is a foregone conclusion - they yes, vote for the old ways. Vote for the slow-moving brook that represents no danger to your set-in ways.

But if you want some excitement, something new, something where debates will flourish, where participation is focused in 5 cities, where decisions have real consequences and there is a real danger of a loss, then vote for the Challenge of a 5 city civilization.

The battle goes to the bold, not the weak. Be bold - step forth into the new land and embrace the challenge!

Perhaps if "kicking and screaming" wasn't the underlying persuasion tactic of the 5cc'ers, I would consider.

Show a bit of decorum in Fanatica Hall, will you? :nono:

Ummm,

Line dancing and joyous shouting for 5CC!!!!

;)

5CC would probably work great for a oligarchy game, with maybe five people IMing eachother about what to do, but this is a democracy game on a grand scale. We'd have 10 people to a city and 8 of them wouldn't have anything to do.

I'll see your line dancing and raise you a large cake. :p

it wouldnt be much different that a game on a standard map: 5 provinces/5 cities - president/president advisors/advisors

it seems strange: in discussions 3/4 of the ppl are in favor of a 5cc, while in the poll 3/4 are against it, but only Civgeneral, Emphiteus, and DZ speak out.

Please speak out!

I voted No, 5cc's may be fun to play Single player, but for a Demogame you need to have the ability for a vast empire, especially for the ability to have multiple provinces and encourage more people to particpate.

OK, I'll voice my opinion. I've played the "CC" games and I've played on small maps. Neither are Demogame material, IMO. ;)
