Who is interested in an all original "Return to our Roots" the way it was type of game? I am sure some of you remember my Back to our Begginings nes, but that was a little to RTORish, and I was not into the game much back then. This time, I am thinking of making a much more laid back, 444nes2/RTOR type of game.

It would have VERY basic rules like level armies, education, economy, and ages, thats it. Updates would be faster (when I begin this atleast) sinse its a simple nes. The updates will be map updates mostly with some random events when they happen.

Orders dont have to be complicated, sinse I would expect stories, so most battles would be played out on your own, realistically. Expansion wont be slow, and there will be some NPC depending on how many players join.

Think of this as a laid back, "how it used to be" game unlike what is coming out now. You are NOT pressured to do orders, it will be like a story, you dont tend to hear even minute of someone's life in any story you read, no? So I dont expact it to be the same here, so missing an update will not be as dire as it is now.

This will be very much like 444nes2 style, with some goodies along the way. It will take place in 4000BC. In the beggining I plan to update EVERYDAY (sinse the updates should not take more then a half an hour at that point). When it begins to get a bit more world diplomatic, which it should sooner then most nes', then I will slow down updates to move with the speed players need.

Anyways, who is interested? I will be posting links to the past nes' this game will be a bit like in style, updating and rules.

I might, however, it would be best if I waited to join after July 3rd, as I will beck in nation by then

err...to be a good RTOR-like game, you need at least 10-15 countries tops. And expansion would be fast. What RTOR was like is that it has little to do with realism, more to do with gameplay. More interactive players, not limited by technology too much.

Anyways, I don't think I would be interested...I just don't see anyone modding a RTOR game other then EQ...I would have to watch how u handle it. You weren't in any RTOR games IIRC, so I don't know if you know how to make it work.

meh, Jason, all that negativity for the wrong reason, I specifically said this will not be another RTOR, I just wanted to show that it will be LIKE it in many ways, but I have no intentions of remaking it. ;)

Second, no nes needs 10-15 human players... every nes needs a good pack of desired and interested players, thats all. I will not be discouraged when modding a nes for 5 people. Heck the more the merrier, but I wont let those who dont want to join ruin my nes and my modding.

And, I have alot of modding experiences, and have made many mistakes in the past, I think I am ready to take on another one, and make this one work.

There has been an overwhelming trend of so many complicated NES's. I want to atleast make one nes the way it was when I joined the first ever nes.

I also dont plan to make this sooooo historically accurate, I want our players to make thier own history, and make it fun. :)

@Global Nexus, yes can do. :P

Then you have officially confused me. In your first paragraph of the first post, you contradict yourself several times. You say "who is interested in a rtor type game?" and then you say "my last one was too rtorish" and then go on and say "this game will be like 444nes/rtor". ...Make up your mind? The reason I said what I said was I thought maybe you meant not rtor2ish, and more rtorish (remember, rtor was a series, rtor2 just one of five).

Second, no nes needs 10-15 human players... every nes needs a good pack of desired and interested players, thats all. I will not be discouraged when modding a nes for 5 people. Heck the more the merrier, but I wont let those who dont want to join ruin my nes and my modding.

A rtor-type NES does in fact need a large group of people since the MOD will not be responsible for running masses of NPCs or hard barbarians. At least, for a rtor-type game, you need a lot to have fun. Perhaps not 15, but at least 7-10.

And, I have alot of modding experiences, and have made many mistakes in the past, I think I am ready to take on another one, and make this one work.
I never said you didn't have moding experieince, or were a newby at modding. You have modded more then many of the people here. I am just saying a rtor game demands a lot from a MOD. I dunno how to explain it, EQ mods in a way to make rtor work. IMO, I have not seen another MOD who could pull it off.

There has been an overwhelming trend of so many complicated NES's. I want to atleast make one nes the way it was when I joined the first ever nes.

Your first every NES ;). And yes, I do agree there are a lot of complicated NES's. Why don't you make an original NES set of rules, that are just as simple as RTOR?

I also dont plan to make this sooooo historically accurate, I want our players to make thier own history, and make it fun. :)

Hist. accurate is not what i said. I said Realism. Slow expansion, massive barbarian and NPC's, and just all around harder game (which in turn, to me, makes it more fun) is what some would say Realism is. Hist. Accurate goes more for those who are like WW1 games, etc. No 4000bc nes can be "Hist. Accurate."

Anyways, I also am sick to my stomach of Stone-to-Modern age NES's. That is the reason I killed stjnes8. They make me so bored now. :).

Also, if you do start a game, I wish you the best of luck :). No negativity here, you just asked me to state my opinion :).

lol, ok...

1. No, I actually meant, I will make the style of RTOR by meaning, in general, old nes'. RTOR is just a nes I use to represent older nes' of that type, not necessarily RTOR, which is why I am not naming this nes RTOR11 or copying it straight from the thread, though they will be similar in a way, aswell as 444nes2, which was very similar to RTOR in ways.

2. From what I recall, RTOR2 started with 3 players. Other old nes' started with only a handful of players, and many nes' now a days have only started with 5 players and end up with like 18. I dont think number matters atleast if you have 5+. I dont plan to open this nes until I get ATLEAST 7 people's interest anyways.

3. Lol, I never said that you said that. I was just mentioning it, when your comment said no one else can mod a nes like rtor BUT EQ, which I dont believe it actually. Second, again, I dont plan to make another RTOR. ;)

4. You are right, I should make a simple set of rules myself, but realy, I am not in the position to make up new rules, which is why I made this thread, to get more suggestions. Dontcha think? :) And when I did begin nes, it was fun, for some reason, its becoming less and less fun, therefore, I want to try and bring back the old, keep it refreshed. Thats the point, making new rules is what everyone else is doing.

5. That statement was not directed for this discussion, :P, it was a general announcement for the future of this nes. :) I meant not being historically accurate by like not waiting all the way until 3000BC to enter the bronze age, or going a little later for the middle ages, stuff like that.

And thanks for the support. :) Opinions are always welcomed.

So...a simple 4000bc old nes? Which is basically RTOR rules. You said in the first paragraph of the first post that your last one was too RTOR...what will you have different? So far your rules seem almost, if not, the same as RTOR except in RTOR you can upgrade 2 things per economy (and yours does not specify). Your map is even the same.

But it had much more on turn 6, which was only like 5 days into the game. Anyways, its up to you. I don't care.

3. Lol, I never said that you said that. I was just mentioning it, when your comment said no one else can mod a nes like rtor BUT EQ, which I dont believe it actually. Second, again, I dont plan to make another RTOR. ;)
Then why did you say it? Saying it makes it seem like you thought I said it. An 'mentioning' and 'saying' are the same thing in my book :). And about EQ, it's hard to say. Its like you are American, and never eaten Chinese food, you try to eat it with chopsticks for the first time. Its hard to do something that, IMO, you don't know enough about. Then again, this is all my opinion, and I could be COMPLETELY wrong. RTOR style game may be right up your alley...I dunno.

4. You are right, I should make a simple set of rules myself, but realy, I am not in the position to make up new rules, which is why I made this thread, to get more suggestions. Okay, first you don't need a position at all to make a new rule set. I do not understand this. Second, you want to know why the NES has evolved from RTOR? It's because that kind of rules got boring real fast, after one or two good NES's. Perhaps its been long enough to bring it back and be new, who am I to say its not? But what I can say is that is why the NES does not have those rules anymore: because it got boring. Then again there are a ton of new players who never played in rtor games before, so it might be nice.

Got ya.

Anyways, I do not mean to discourage you. I hope you launch it and its a big success, really do :).
