INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

Note: Thunderfall has removed the version 2 download. The zip file below
is for version 3 three and will not work with the version 2 .biq files.
I will be stating a new thread for version 3 later today.

1) Download Tos_v3.zip from here:
http://www.civfanatics.net/downloads/civ3/scenarios/Tos_v3.zip

2) Extract all files using "C:\" ONLY as the file path.

- this will extract all the files to the correct directory path on your computer assuming you install your CivIII Conquests game to the default path the game came with.

The scenario will then be correctly installed in the CIVIII\Conquests\Scenarios directory.

The way to check for sure if the scenario is installed correctly is that the scenario .BIQ files should be in the CIVIII\Conquests\Scenarios directory and there should also be a TOS_V2 folder in this same folder.

IF YOU DID NOT INSTALL YOUR ORIGINAL CIVIII Conquests game to the default directory path, these instructions will not work for you. In that case you will need to manually extract and move the files to wherever your CIVIII\Conquests\Scenarios path is on your hard drive.

There a 4 .biq files:
TOS_V200_SP_SHORT.biq - Short game for single player mode
TOS_V200_SP_LONG.biq - Long game for single player mode
TOS_V200_MP_SHORT.biq - Short game for PBEM or hotseat mode
TOS_V200_MP_LONG.biq - Long game for PBEM or hotseat mode

The short games are 32 turns long, which covers the period from
Dec., 7, 1941 until the end of Feb. 1943. The long games are 100 turns
and cover the entire conflict period.

Player order for the multiplayer games is:

Japan
USA
Commonwealth
China
Netherlands

Player order for single player games is:

Netherlands
USA
Commonwealth
China
Japan

Victory Point Levels

For single player short games: 65,000 points
For single player long games: 250,000 points
For multi-player short games: 55,000 points
For multi-player long games: 200,000 points

The civilopedia entires for the new units and techs are not done yet
but everything is explained in the document in the above post.

I was not able to find suitable unit graphics for:

Seabees - Using the mech infantry for now.
Japanese destroyers - of any type, using the US destroyer graphics
US and Japanese heavy cruisers - using the original conquest graphics
Anti-aircraft cruisers, such as the Atlanta or Dido class - using a Brooklyn
Japanese Battleships, execpt for the Yamato class, using the Hood.

you've got some text faults mate, apart from that i think i'll try combining this with the 'REDUX' one that's just come out for the mother of all WW" pacific scenarios

If you are refering to the civilopedia entries, you are correct, they are
not complete in this version for any of the new units.

In the past week three problems came to my attention:

1. I stupidly made oil a requirement for building an airfield.
This makes it impossible to build an air field on islands without
a city. Oil requirement was removed.

2. The air defense factors for some types of ships were wrong.
The air defense strenghts are now:
2 for Fast BB, Super BB and AA cruiser
1 for advanced DD, CA, attack transport and all carriers
0 for basic DD, transport and PT boat.

3. Range for the Allied torpedo bomber was incorrect, was 7 is
now 8.

This patch only requires the .biq files to change, here are the new ones
one zip for single player, one for multi player files (you can delete the
v200 .biq files, they are not needed once you have loaded this patch):

Something wrong with the text file

Eric_A:

If I might make a suggestion....

You have defined the entire path in your ZIP file (ie Program Files/Infogame Interactive/Civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios). If someone where to actually setup their WinZIP to extract to the Scenarios directory they would get the ENTIRE path you setup in your ZIP file. Thus there would be a Program Files directory in the Scenario folder.

In such a situation you will definitely get the missing Pediaicons.txt error because the path is wrong.

Here's my suggestion.....

Most other scenario designers typically only supply the Biq and Scenario folder and tell the player to extract to the Scenario folder. That's a safer methodology (although it requires a little more work from the downloader). It does have the advantage of being consistent with what most other scenario designers are doing.

There os a pediacons file in there. I tried to copy and paste like three times and still the same result.

Yes I did install the full mod in the first post

Arvln:
So the full path for the file is:
C:\Program Files\infogrames interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\scenarios\tos_v2\text\pediaicons.txt
Is this correct?
Are you running the US english language version of the game?

Misfit Emailed me to say it loads OK on his system. BTW, I do specify
to extract to c:\ in the first post.

If I might be so bold Eric_A.....

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Download TOS v2.0 ZIP from Civfanatics
2) Extract all files using "C:\" ONLY as the file path.

- this will extract all the files to the correct directory path on your computer assuming you install your CivIII Conquests game to the default path the game came with.

3) Download TOS v2.01 patch from Civfanatics
4) Extract all files using "C:\" ONLY as the path.

Hopefully that will help out with some of the reported problems.

My system is running the U.S. release version of the game (v1.22) on Windows XP HOME Operating System.

Let me know if I can help out further Eric_A.

Cheers
Misfit

This patch fixes a couple more bugs:

1. The basic rifleman unit, which I use in the game to represent forces
such as the army of the Manchukuo puppet government and the Phillipine
army was changed. These units can no longer be drafted or upgraded to
infantry.

2. Submarine stealth attack capability was missing for some units,
including the light carrier and the US battleship, fixed this.

Also for this release I have separate scenario files for playing the
allies or Japan in single player mode:

For the allies, since the AI is terrible at planning and executing
invasions, the scenario starts with the Japanese already ashore at
key locations such as Rabaul and the Phillipines. Also the USS Arizona
and Oklahoma have already been sunk and so were removed. This makes for
a challenging little game to play as the US or Commonwealth. Use the
TOS_V202_SP_ALLIES_short.biq file for this game.

For Japan I gave the allies a couple of extra starting techs and
changed the AI straegy for infantry on the China and Burma fronts
to defense (so they don't make suicidal attacks). Use the
TOS_V202_SP_JAPAN_short.biq file for this game.

This patch only requires the .biq files to change.

Please consider updating links in the first post as well for the scenario revisions, most newbies will go there first to look at the scenario. If you don't want to go the upload and link route, then consider having thread jumps embedded in post #1 to take a user to posts #16/17. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to find and download the correct version. That will greatly reduce your support inquiries.

When you get close to a final release beta, I'd be willing to participate in a PBEM, LAN or WAN game to test the multiplayer. We're in the same city and I have multiple computers available, so I'll leave it to you if you're interested.
