Typhoon of Steel V2.02 PBEM

This thread is for tracking the progess of the TOS PBEM test
game. This is a heavily modifed version of the WW2 Pacific
scenario and can be found here:

So far we have 3 players:

Eric_A, Misfit_travel and Loulong.

I will play the Commonwealth. Misfit and Loulong since you were
first in expressing interest to play you can take your pick from
the remaining countries, Japan, USA, China and Netherlands.

That means we will need 2 additional players plus a standby player
for Japan. The allies will use the common password system so
that one player can easily take over for another.

So if you are interested in the remaining spots post here.

We could still use a standby player for Japan.

Misfit called for China first, by PM. So Loulong
gets the USA (should be a nice change after Japan
in the KK game).

Line up is:

Commonwealth - myself (eric_A)
China - Misfit
USA - Loulong
Japan - LostKnight
Netherlands - rcoutme

Edit: Just looked at scenario. BTW, Eric_A, I assume that you are aware that Puerto Princess (in the original scenario) did not have an airstrip. Actually, neither did Wake and a few other places. This will definately change things.

Also: are workers used up when creating airstrips? How about other things? I couldn't find a toggle for the worker being used up. Just questions I need answered so I can try to plan accordingly.

One more thing, I assume that we can not give away airstrips, but what happens if an ally jumps onto one, does it become his airstrip?

Not quite sure what you are getting at here;
Puerto Princess and Wake were cities in the original game so you
could base airplanes on them, now the are just islands with airstrips.
They did not have airports, if that is what you mean. In this game
air transport is limited to paratroopers.

Yes workers and Seabees are still used up when they build airfields,
I wanted to change it, but this is hard coded in civ 3 and cannot be
changed.

No you cannot give away airbases, and the game will not allow you
to occupy an allys base. If the enemy captures it, however, it is
up for grabs.

By the way, why zero and bomber cant sink ship??? Pearl Harbor was "almost" intact after my attack.

Zeros can't but dive bombers and torpedo bombers CAN sink ships.

It all depends on luck, sometimes ships are sunk and sometimes
lots of citizens are killed and buildings are destroryed.

A good naval bombardment also helps, did you do that?
P.S. Battleships have lethal sea bombard in this game.

I had a look at the game and I think you did OK. All eight
battleships in Pearl were damaged, the Repulse was sunk
and the Prince of Wales is a floating wreak!

Commonwealth Report:

There is a light tank army advancing on Kuala Lumpur
from the north. Also, 3 paras have landed 1 square NE
of Sibu and there is an invasion force consisting of
2 BB, 2 CA, 2 DD and a transport approaching Kudat from
the NW.

We have evacuated all these cities, destroying roads
and harbours as we go. Remember Japan starts this scenario
with no oil, so we want to make it as difficult as possible
for LostKnight to get any.

On the Burma front he only sent in one infantry and an artillery,
We killed the infantry and captured the arty.

Operations :
1 US DD sunk near Davao, 2 Japanese subs sunk. "Pearl Harbor" fleet spotted but late and out of reach.

To the Brits and Yanks, they knew enough to pre-accept agreements. We have begun our mobilization efforts and are trying like hell to protect the Kingdom from those pesky invaders. Not much to report except that the Chinese high command seems to not have heard of preaccepting agreements and that I can not find a toggle for going into wartime production. If one of my allies could let me know how to do this the queen would be most grateful.

We found a funny white obelisk near a British province that was unoccupied. We felt that it would be a shame to not have some admirers watching it, so we sent some troops there to keep it company.

To mobilze for war goto your domestic advisor screen and hit the botton
shown below with the red arrow:

My turn is done.

A quick report: small US fleet near philipines sunk:no casulaties.

Sibu and Kudat is now mine.

Prince Of wales got the sinking blow but a sub near singapor was destroyed by a vicious commonwealt sub.

Davao was captured and philipines is now in my grasp.

Pearl harbor got heavily bombarded and 2 plane and a battleship is now in the bottom of the sea.

Foochoo is now a japanese city.

Glory for our mighty emperor!!!
