Question About Adding Tech

Can anyone tell me, is it necessary to modify the science advisor screen in order to add a new tech with in-game Civilopedia functionality? If I have the coordinates on the editor screen set to 0, 0 could this be the reason my tech is not working?

Right now I don't really want to get into editing the Science Advisor tech tree screens unless I absolutely have to ... but I'd like Civilopedia to work and I cannot figure out what else it could be that isn't working.
 
Ach ... I figured it out actually ... rather embarrassing, I had put #TECH in the editor (rather than just TECH). Blast! I was really at my wits end but it gets confusing doing a serious attempt at modding the first time.
I saw that tutorial, its a bit advanced yet for me, but I do plan to get around to doing a tech tree at some point.
This is really alot harder than writing a Civ2 mod! One wrong character and you can be tearing your hair out!
