*** GAME FULL ***

Hi, this is the thread for the new PBEM game I plan on starting.

"Edesse" was the first mulsim city to fall during the Crusades.

It is for Conquests, using the MP version of the Medieval scenario and the patch 1.22.
So you need to have both Conquests and the patch 1.22 installed on your computer.

Civs will probably be attributed along playing times of the different players so please state your playing time (using GMT).
Order done with the idea of having a turn every other day.

Order of play

Abbasids - Akots
Germany - Rubberjello
Kievan Russ - EliitMees
Byzantines - Gnarfflinger
France - Romeothemonk
England - Portuga
Denmark - Random Fan
Cordova - Loulong

Players : 8

1. Loulong
2. RJ
3. Portuga
4. Random Fan
5. Akots
6. Romeothemonk
7. Gnarfflinger
8. EliitMees

You want to be in ? You have further questions ? Post in this thread or send me a PM. If ready to join, send me a PM with your e-mail.

Organization : the game will be called "Edesse" to be recognizable and when you get the game, send a mail to inform the sender you got it.

Be careful as this is a long game and quite slow as the map is pretty big and empty.
On the other hand, muliple regicide is on and AP on.

I'm in! (My other PBEM game in this scenario is lucky to get 1 turn a week done. I hope this will be faster!)

P.S. I think the Byzantines are unbalanced in the MP version of this scenario. The only reason they start with so many cities in the normal scenario is because they are surrounded by AIs....which are now gone from the MP version.

Count me in :D Oh and my playing time is GMT 16-21

I think the Byzantines are too powerful in the MP version. (Unbalanced). However, the dynamics of the human element may make up for that, in that they would be target #1 and the rest of the world may gang up on them.

But usually, Denmark keeps England, France, and Germany very busy (or dead!), Cordova is so far away, Kievian is also far away and spends most of the game expanding and fighting barbs, and the Abbasids are in total growth mode for the first half of the game due to poor land. There is no one to confront the Byzantines until pretty late in the game. In the single player mode, there are some pretty tough AI neighbors to the north and East that keeps the Byzzies in check.

If you don't want to mod, maybe a "new" player should take the Byzantines, rather than some of the old hands around here. Then we can all draw conclusions towards the end of the game.

I am very interested in this scenario. I have played everyone in the single player, even the unplayables. I am willing to be anyone, but if you put me with the Byz, it could be trouble for everyone. I usually have nice turnaround times, and am availible from 10-16 GMT.

Lets give it a try! But it is indeed a long game so may be limiting participation to fast players is a good idea. I also hope that there are no holy relics? If they are, viking civilization (Denmark) has a good possibility to win early. I'm with -6 GMT (US Central) and will take any civ.

IMvHO, Kievan Rus is a great civ to play by a human player. They can have zerks and have huge room to expand and build up. If it is given to AI, we should play Demi-God at least.

Yeap I think Russians must be played by human, they are not so far from Byzantines as the Vikings and can biuld Berserkers and Catapharcs.

Limiting to known players is OK.
But relics are on. If something can make the game run faster and finish earlier I'd say all the better, don't you ?

Do not really know about the relics. It is not fair for some civs to have them and for others not. Also, what about poor Abbasids? Being hammered by everyone around turn 40 ro 50 in their fight for Jerusalem? They can certainly hire some Russian or Byzantine mercenaries to protect the city. With AI it is plain stupid. The relics just sit in a certain place and never move around. So quite possible to capture them. A human player can try to hide them in the woods though. Still don't know. Before launching such a big PBEM game, it would be nice to know if somebody tried this scenario on MP and what are their impressions. But if we move fast with the turns, we'll know soon enough. :)

Actually, if you have room for me, I'd like to get in on another one. There's 713 kb free on the disk I use to transfer my saves from the computer with a modem to the one that will run Civ III. First choice would be the Danish (I just have a thing for axe weilding maniacs, okay?), but if Random civs for all is the way to go, then I'll accept what I get.

Edit: Playing time would be between 2200 and 200 Eastern (I believe that's GMT-5)

I see there's one spot left ;) I would like to join this game.
I would prefer not to play Byzantines, as I play them in another game. And I personally think that relics should be on.
Playing time usually 15 - 20 GMT

OK, so it is the default scenario like it is in the scenario folder unmodded. Let's try it then. We can actually try to start 2 or 3 games playing different civilizations in these games. Though this might be a crazy idea.

I'm with GMT -6 US Central and would play any civ which is fine with time frame so that the game moves faster. :)

Ok, game order set up. The organization's aim is to get one turn every other day. Hopefully it will work out that way !!!

Akots should launch the game.

And I will send the welcome mail ASAP.

Is it possible to activate the "preserve random seed" option, in a conquest? If it is, I vote to have it active.

Uhmm....if you are worried about people cheating via reloads, then it is better to have it off. The really anal-retentive cheating types (of which, I hope none of us are!), could time the whole sequence of favorable rolls throughout a turn via many reloads if PRS were "on".

What I'm trying to say is that PRS "on" favors cheaters when there are many combats a turn. PRS "off" favors cheaters when there are only 1 or 2 combats per turn.
