Digging up RPG

In the interDG period we discussed a lot about the possibility of setting up a Role Playing Game. However, untill now, no-one has ever mentioned it again.

Therefore I pose these questions to the Japanatican Citizenry to discuss, and, for your convenience, answered them myself

Do we still want to set this thing up? (YES!)

How are we going to organise it? (I don't really know yet, since I didn't participate in previous DG RPG games)

I have been thinking about it alot lately, but we should actually start the RPG off slowly, with maybe a few threads. Then if it picks up, we can devote a forum to it. The main problem is participation though.

You can start RPing at any time. We have the same rules for it as DG1. That means you can start anywhere, just make sure to make it obvious that you're RPing.

Strider and Shaitan had a RPG thing once in DG2 and 3, but it was also cumbersome. A roleplay like DG1 would be fine. Sponteneous.

We need a RPG Forum!!!!

Yevon will never be what the Council was without a forum. The RPG was great in SPDG2. You could do what you wanted, and 99% of the people did very well in being a part of it.

i Agree, the rpg from DG2 rocked, okay it was a lot of work but who say's we need all them rules again, having its own forum advertised it as well as people joining advertised the demogame.

we had record numbers of people active in dg2 i think partly because of the rpg.

The roleplaying aspect is too big to fit into the citizen's forums. It doesn't have to be murderous to maintain, let the rpgers maintain it themselves.

The Order of Yevon already has 11 people in it by itself!

I know there are also not Yevon people who will go to the RPG forum, too.

I am all for an RPG within the context of the game.

@Zarn, Yevon is thriving. Do you really think it is going to get as much exposure in a completely separate Forum?

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the Citizens' Forum, built exclusively for the discussions and activites of our citizens. Let's use it to the fullest.

I wonder if I'm allowed to just open up an RPG here like das did for his first NES -- just out of nowhere.

@donovan i believe it will, look at the demogame 2 RGG, we ended up having to remind people to register in the citizens registry so they could play.

:sigh: I have stated this before, and will state it again. This time, Shaitan will not be waiting behind the Golden RPG gate, willing to do all of the work for us.

A story-related RPG, you say? Tried that last game as well in the CHD. Despite opening strongly with the best intentions, it was DOA before you could say Term 2.

And yes, for those who go to a separate Forum for RPG, something you mention just may happen. People will forget about the game going on right here. That is why the DG1 model seems to be the best. Roleplay within the context of the game! It will keep you engaged in the game, and get your RPG ideas more traffic. If people show a commitment to this idea to the point that it is pushing important discussions off the radar, only then should we consider another forum.

Work first, then reward.

Actually, I have to agree with BCLG on this. If I remember correctly the Demogame itself was at an all time low in partcipation because everyone was so interested in the RPG no one voted in polls etc.

I'd prefer a kind of mixture between the DG2 and DG3 RPG's. Something without the DG2 money/banking (I'll remember you always for that Stuck ) and without the DG3 rules.

I'll say we just make it fairly simple and easy to get into. Require anyone who wants to partcipate make a character (Age, Sex, Description, Job, flaws, merits, etc.). Then just let them play there character out and interact with other characters in stories, adventures, etc. Allow players to create games (with permission from maybe a head person) for other players to play in.

Set a one character limit for you don't have the confusing player trying to play with two characters, it should fairly easily run itself. Maybe a DM (D&D title.. haha) could make some stories/events that occur along the lines of the happenings in the Demogame itself.

to make it easier therefore we could simply not have as many rules, the banking system, while maybe funfor other was an arse to run. we could maybe exclude that, the story ideas would be able to develope further, entering into the realms of spam (no post count thing), by spam i think you may all remember disorganizers pub, you got 15 people asking for a coke , they did however find it interesting to do, allthough some people left when post count was no longer included there was still a big following.
