Here is a poll for the possible decisions that were suggested from the original discussion threads. The results here would be used by the Trade Department for there instructions. There will not be a 2nd poll since the highest vote would and will take presidance (spelling?). This is a public poll.

Accept their current Offer of BW+Pottery+10g for Wheel
Trade Only BW for 1 GPT
Wait until we research BW on our own then reopen negotiations
Do not trade at all
Declare War Without Trading
Abstain

Original Discussion Thread

This poll will close on the day of the next turnchats (Aug 13th 2004)

Mini-Glossery for the newbies ;)
BW: Bronze Working
GPT: Gold Per Turn

100% for the second option. I like that. Did you side-step the wishes of your boss here, CG. I thought he was going to post a poll?

I was hoping for DZ to post a poll yesterday. But apperently I have not seen his poll posted when I loged in today. I wanted to post the poll ASAP before the next turnchat so that it can gather enough votes for a proper decision. Also, I made sure that I am not side steping DZ severly by making this an informal poll.

Hmm, guess I'd better read up on the discussion since the last time I looked before voting. :)

Anyone who votes for declaring war needs to have their head examined! I suppose you put that option in for comic relief?

Many of the users have suggested to have that option in, Personaly, I am not advocating war at this point. I agree however that people who votes for "Declaring war" should get checked in with the local DG head doctor.

Abstain, public poll.

"Declare War" was added in my proposal for "completeness". I think that anyone who votes for that option should constitute our "vanguard" in such a case.

While I would likely favor "Wait until we get BW", I am also okay with Cyc's Proposal, neutral on "Don't Trade at all", and against "Wheel Trade," and so will hold my vote until the patterns of the populace become more clear.

I voted for the second option: 1gpt for BW.

I would advocate strongly against the third option (i.e. waiting to get BW ourselves, and then reopen negotations). This would cause either another very short turnchat, or a trade without the direct approval of the citizens. We must decide now what to do. And by voting for the second option we can quite sure the Babylonians won't even consider declaring war on us.

I would cast my vote for the first option :).

Option 2 is the only one that can help us to rebuff the Bab warrior.

The AI is more hesitant to attack when they have a GPT trade (when you give gpt) with them. However, no such comportment has been noticed when having a one turn deal with bad relation (they're annoyed..., and level 4/5 agression).

Furthermore, this deal will still maintain our monopoly of the Wheel.

I am fine with CG's decision, Cyc. As long as all options are covered and we can allow even more time for a decision, I have no problem with a deputy taking the initiative.

That said, the Trade Minister supports the idea of sending 1gpt to Babylon for Bronze Working. The reason for this is to hopefully secure peace for 20 turns with a gpt deal. I am a bit nervous about the Bab Warrior at the moment.

Second option... gotta give the Bab's some incentive for not declaring war on us, since admittedly we are NOT prepared for any kind of war.
