Jason The King
Deity
stJNESX2: From City-State to Empire.
Welcome to the second edition of the stJNESX series. Please note, updates will be every three days (possibly more frequent in the beginning times, but no longer), and stJNESX updates will remain every other day, giving me a day of rest. If you do not believe I can do it, please do not say anything on the thread, just do not join. I have ran two NESs before pretty successfully (stJNES5 and stJNES4 were ran at the same time for a couple of months successfully, obviously), and I have no doubts that I cant do it again.
Rules
If you dont read this, a plague upon your house!
Economy
-Levels, Depression-recession-failing-stable-growing-prosperous-outstanding.
-Increase by not increasing anything else that turn, and by saying so.
-Susceptible to random events.
-Takes two turns to increase if it hits depression.
Military
-Will be done in numbers.
-You may have any kind of military you want that is allowable for the age you are in.
-The amount of each kind of unit that increases with each economy is explained in every update, and will be updated as soon as a new age is found.
-To upgrade, say clubmen (bronze) to swordsmen (iron), takes one economy to upgrade them all.
-In iron age, you will have to organize your infantry into some sort of unit, be it a phalanx, hoplite, legion, or anything you make up. The amount of men per unit will be shown in your stats. This is to mirror how fighting was really done in those ages.
Asterisk*
-Will be awarded to a nation who is making exceptional money on non-priority trading, or is conquering another nation.
-Allows for two things to be increase per economy spent.
Trade Routes
-Known as priority trade routes.
-Maximum of three can be made, for 2 economies each. Every three turns, the nation that created the route will gain an extra economy.
-Some routes will be deemed luxury, to my discretion, and will gain 2 economies every three turns instead of one.
-Can be halted due to a route being cut off by an enemy.
-Available in iron age.
Culture
-In this game, culture has a role. If parts of your land is conquered, and you have a strong culture, the people will openly rebel and make it hard for the enemy to occupy them, much harder then if the culture was at a low.
-Represented by numbers.
Moral
-Will be decided upon how confident and happy your people and army is.
Roads
-Cost one economy to build, or 500 men laboring for one turn (not fighting).
-Must be built between two cities.
-Increases defense and moral, plus may have an impact upon culture and economy.
Education
-Represented by numbers.
-Affects how soon you acquire a new age.
UU
-Can be made one per nation per age.
-Obsolete UUs can still be fought with, but cannot be rebuilt if lost.
Notes: *READ THEM ALL, SOME ARE VERY IMPORTANT*
-Expansion will be extremely slow, slower then in stJNESX, and many more NPCs will be created. You will have to mostly conquer your way to expand.
-Size does matter. Past the Bronze Age, the size of your empire will determine more things. However, if you are small and rich, you will gain other things.
-Bronze Age is more based around your city-state, other then empire. Your nation will be small, and remain small until Iron Age. You city-state, which will eventually become the capital of your empire, will need to be developed. Rules will be explained in the first update, unique rules just for developing your city. What you do now will be reflected upon the future empire.
-Do not all start around each other! I want some in Africa, some in Europe, and some in Asia! I promise I will make it fun with NPCs while you build your empire, other players may ruin it for you.
-If it gets to where I do not like the way the world is turning out, I will ask you to join somewhere else.
-This NES is not intended to be easy. So beware of plagues, famines, floods, and most of all: barbarians. I quote das, Jason just wouldn't be Jason if he won't throw various nations to hell with barbarian invasions. That is true. So be ready, and beware!
-I HIGHLY encourage stories, even if you do not think you can write good. The benefits are enormous. 1.) you get to know your nation better. Stick to a theme, an attitude, a personality. You will love your nation. 2.) people in the game get to know your nation better, and makes the game more fun. 3.) I get to know your nation better, and makes me do more random events centered around your nation. 4.) soon I will make a rule that requires some sort of story. Not long, not intricate, and by all means it does not have to be good. Perhaps in the iron age I will introduce something like this.
-This NES is MEANT for epics and stories. I will be curving it around stories, and will be promoting them. Again, I do not care if you are a good write or not, I am not, but I still enjoy writing about my nation, it gets me more into the game.
-Do not post until I say you can.
