African popheads

I thought I'd convert Moshoeshoe and Nzinga into African popheads - and they seem to work ok! The African set replaces the Mediterranean ones.

This preview should give you an idea of what I've been up to:

Please note that the file is much more sharply focused than the preview looks.

Good Idea. Too bad there wasn't Africans to begin with, as it is ashame to have to subtitute one with another.

They go in the Art/SmallHeads folder - but please ensure you back up your original version first.

Bravo!! As Pounder said it's ashame to subtitute one with another considering that Africa represent nearly 1/3 of the world population.

I think they blend in really well - now all we need is a few more flavor units to completely install the African culture group! Thanks again for the great work!

One thing though - I just realized Moeshoeshoe in the Ancient Era is the only one with a "prop" - I might edit that out

I thought about doing that, but thought it looked better with it - I guess it's a matter of taste

you can also use them in mods without replacing the main files by creating a smallheads foldier in your mod's art folder. Thats what I'm going to do for Far Horizons!

THANKYOU R8XFT! You did a good job on this methinks my British friend. Us Civfolks in the Colonies will greatly appreciate this.

BUt can you do me a BIG favor and make a version of that with the Africans replacing the Middle Eastern ones?

I replaced most of the Middle Eastern civs in Far Horizons, leaving only Israel, the Arabs, and the Ottomons, Plus I replaced the Medittarean Culture group with the Native American Culture Group(and replaced the Byzantines and Carthagians), the "American" culture group was replaced with the Mesoamerican/Southamerican/Latino culture group...hense Middle East gets the boot so to speak.

It looks like more African units are being done by Dom Pedro II and Dease, which is fabulous, but I can't get any takers for the settlers and workers :sad:

Here's a version of the original file, but I've edited the shield out of the ancient Moshoeshoe especially for Antiochus VII

. It'll need the name changing from "popHeads1" to "popHeads" if you want to use it

I wish DPII would finish the African Spearman and Musketman...guess I'm going to have to use the Numidian Mercanary for that...

Hey R8XFT....and anyone else who is interested...how about we create a new thread petitioning DP to finish those units? If we get enough people, DP will then think they are worth finishing(I think he's tired of unit creating now)

I'm definately interested in petitioning for new African units. I've tried asking people to do an African settler and African worker, but no-one's interested :sad:

Theres actually a surprising lack of new settler units availible. One possibility is to use DP2's up in coming African Warrior as a settler(using the fortify animation for build animation).

Thats one person(R8XFT) anyone else want to join the petition?
