Activists protest against chess as 'racist'

A group of activists , calling themselves the 'Society for racial equality" , have lodged their protest , saying that chess is racist in that the two opposing sides being named black and white and giving white the first move is racits and promotes racism indirectly .

What is it with these crackpots ? Chess is racist ? I'd say it's a case og getting too psyched up over nothing .

It's sexist too. The Queen is more powerful, but if you kill the King, you lose. Totally outrageous. It's also biased towards the Roman Catholic Church with it's bishops. And it encourages cruelty to animals by killing horses. And it encourages a Monarchy. And communism -- THE PAWNS OF THE WORLD MUST UNITE TO OVERTHROW THE KING!!!
 
I don't see how letting white go first indicates white superiority. Personally I prefer to be the blacks, let my opponent take the first move- I prefer to be second, because it lets me figure out my opponents plans quicker. :)

Yeah, plus, it's funny copying your opponents openning moves identically.

I think going first gets you a definite advantage. You'd have to check with one of the local chess gurus though.

Now now, lets not get silly about this. I had the choice of typing in black OR white (edit: or blue). In chess, there IS NO CHOICE!!! ONLY THE WHITE MAN GOES FIRST!!!
 
There are chess games that have white and red peices. I suppose the native peoples of north america should be upset, as well.

God forbid someone make green peices. The martians would raise hell.
