Hello guys,

I thought about using the LM terrain to add specific and distinct geographical locations to the (Snoopy 4+) maps. After all there are 5 main terrain sets (mountains and hills, as well as desert, plains and grassland) available. Basically I am looking for modifications of current tile sets that would make up the landmark via the connection of one OR several tiles (as for LM mountains and LM hills):

Africa: Kilimandscharo

Northern America: The Grand Canyon

I LOVE this idea!:goodjob: I also suggest adding the Great Barrier Reef.:D

I would easily use this on a world map, hands down.:)

Edit: No Custom terrain for Asia? You have Eurasia, but what of Asia itslef?:hmm:

Only 5? Crappola. Oh well, we could make it all the same, and leave it up to the downloaders to choose which ones to use.:D

Barrier reef - great idea!!!

Duno- anyone ever heard of the Himalaya? But remember there are merely 5 useable terrain tile sets :)

Him-a-lay-a: hmm: the largest and highest land moutain range 2400 Km long, 300 Km wide. Houses the 2 highest peaks: K-2 and Everest. Also bears the mouths of 3 of the longest/fertile rivers (Indus, Ganges, Yangtze)..

Never heard of it. What is it? :mischief:

Isn't there a reef-like LMT already in the graphix lib? 'neways this look great. Please make it W.I.N.T.E.R. You can du it!

Never done anything like it- that's why I'm requesting it- so hopefully one of the masters of terrain gfx might like the idea...

You don't want to use the grassland, plains and desert LM terrains, as they are almost unusable in the game. There is no grassland meets LMgrassland terrain file (and so on), as there are grassland meets plains, so it'll look very bad. embryodead posted about it some months ago, he had some pics on how bad it looks. You can easily mod the forest, hills and mountains though. :)
You can also use the fact that the "alone" hill/mountain can look however you want it; this is how my LMMountains.pcx looks at the moment.

Central Asia: Gobi Desert

Gobi Desert ()
The Gobi is one of the world's great deserts. It covers 1.3 million square kilometers, extending 1,600 km from east to west across Central Asia, in southeast Mongolia and northern China. It is from 1,000 m to 1,500 m in elevation, with cold winters, short hot summers, and fierce sand and wind storms. Grassy fringe areas support a small population of nomadic Mongol herders. The Kerulen River is the largest permanent stream.
