third times the charm eh?
I think so ;).

Anyway, I voted for Noldy :).

Okay.

I served under Noldodan in Term One, while also serving as City Naming Commissioner. Some of my actions as City Naming Commission would make it seem like I do not consult with the public. I would just like to say that it has always been my intension to have personal permission before changing/moving any city names, and that in any case I acted as I did because I did not think my job very important. If elected Domestic Minister, I will consult with the public whenever possible, because I would consider my job very important. Following every chat (assuming a settler will appear in the next one) I will start a discussion on nominating city sites to be founded in the next chat. Following that I will start a poll, with pictures of the sites' radii, so that the people can choose. The results of that poll will also show what order the cities should be founded in. Similarly, wherever I do not trust my judgement, or feel that something is too important, I will consult the public. Province Boundaries would only be passed with great public support. When it comes to slider settings, I will listen to input from Science and Culture and determine the best compromise between the two. When it comes to rushing, I will try to balance funds as much as possible and only rush what is absolutely necessary when we are short (and, obviously, in republic or monarchy.). And, should I not trust my judgement, I would come to the public for counsel. I would propose and carry out a National Plan system that would give the military and culture, with the People's approval, a way to change queues, but leave the micromanagement to the governor. And I would be very careful to always make sure the polls go well.

I also have experiance in this job, and management in general, having run five other online games in the past. If I can handle Ortosa, I think I can be domestic minister. ;)

As evidence I can do this, look at the poll on where to found Immo. And keep in mind that when that started the whole Iron controversy (which didn't go anywhere, anyway) did not exist, and that I in the end came up with a solution (stop chat at Iron Working).

I am willing to work for this job, and I am willing to let the people make the decisions for me. So I call upon the people to make the decision to elect me Term 2 Domestic Minister.

sir donald earned my vote from his extremely well thought out city posts and domestic advice.

I went with SD3 also. He writes well, is very active, and is fresh blood. Good luck!

I don't like voting for people because they can write a long post. But if that's what you people like, I think I will oblige. This one describes in great deal the Capricoids of Maxidragalon, a race of super intelligent goats. I wrote it for a geopol game, in which fluff was encouraged. Its very long.

Basic Explanation of the Capricoid Civilization

Physical Description: Capricoids are a tin-based life form which originated on the planet of Maxadragalon. In their juvenile, adolescent, and adult stages they look a surprising amount like goats from Earth. Juvenile capricoids look exactly like young goats, not having grown horns yet and are quite small. The adolescents are also small but look like smaller versions of fully developed goats, though their ears and horns are as large as they will ever grow from this point making them look out of proportion. The adults are normal goat size, and look generally like any normal Angolan goat from earth, except that their horns turn abruptly at right angles and head back towards the back of the head, and that their legs are somewhat shorter and smaller. The geriatric (if that’s the word I want. I mean old) stage of capricoid looks like a goat with small horns, feet, and ears (the body has continued to grow while they have not). The color also tends to fade from their hair as it becomes more brittle. Beards also grow faster at this stage, though the are easily cut to a normal length. They are a tin based life form, thus making their planets much different than ours and their anatomy and physiology different, thought the do, incredibly, look a lot like goats.

Background: The Great Capricoids are derived from the planet of Maxadragalon in the Karunakushis system far away from Earth (if possible, outside the galaxy). At an unknown point in time, estimated at 6,000 years ago (unknown due to bad records and trouble converting time from Maxadragalon years to other units of time) they conquered their longtime rivals the Capricoids of Fradinisticon (who are believed to be so similar to their conquers because they may both be descended from life on debris from the same planet. Either way they are essentially the same race) and began to expand into worlds capable of supporting them and creating new ones. One of their colonization ships traveled far enough from Maxadragalon to make contact with [insert any human nation you want here]. They began trading with the humans and eventually even became allies with some of them.

Nationality:
noun: Grand Capricoids, Capricoids for short
Formal name: Grand Capricoid Hyhatate of Maxadragalon
Adjective: Capricoid or Maxadraglonian

Capital World: Maxadragalon
Capital City: Hyhatorisisor

Government type: hyhatate (parliamentary monarchy, ran by hyhat)
Independence: Unknown (estimated 10,000 years ago)

Chief of state: Hyhat Mamanis

Population: 670,532,500,000
Sex Ratio: male 36% / female 40% / hermaphrodite 24%
Life Expectancy: male 210 years / female 180 yrs / herm 250 yrs

Language:
Maxadragalonian (goatspeak): 64%
Fradinisticon: 24%
English: 2%
Capricoid Dialects: 10%

Education: Juveniles attend educational classes from year 10-25, those who show extra mental capacity go on to advanced education throughout adolescence, those who don't attend vocational school and then apprenticeship.

Social Overview: All adults are treated equal regardless of sex. The hyhat is always a male, as are all the Prodesias (senators), though females or hermaphrodites may advice or hold other offices. The main castes are (these are explanations of the castes, not their actual names) agricultural workers, manufacturing workers, artisans, politicians & executives, and service workers. You are put in a caste depending on skill. Those with no skill are forced into the army, were continued failure brings exile. Castes tend only to affect occupation, not social standing.

Economy: Maxadragalon is mainly self stuffient, providing all necessities themselves. The Capricorn Mercantor Co. runs a trade route between Maxadragalon and human worlds which serves to bring rare luxuries to the capricoids and provide large amounts of tin to the humans in return.

Industries: All necessary to a good capricoid lifestyle, though mining and production of tin and tin products are the only exports.

Military: The military consists of volunteer adults, conscripted geriatrics, and conscripted unskilled adults. It isn't very powerful, but serves only to retain control over their territory. All foreign disputes are handled by the army of the Capricorn Mercantor Co. and the Capricoid Foreign Legion, both of which employ mainly human soldiers and ships.

Disputes: Capricorn Mercantor Co. has disputes with numerous nations over whether or not it has the right to control entire planets, and if so which. Maxadragalon itself has no disputes due to its isolation.

Government System: The government is centered around the hereditary head of state, the Hyhat. The current dynasty (Tontatae) has lasted for over 3,000 years and began after a coup to over through the previous dynasty (Hsianam). The hyhat is by definition a male, and is always the son of the hyhat and the Burien. The burien is an elected female of great intelligence and importance who has been chosen to be the mother of the next hyhat so that the line does not become inbred or stupid (a form of eugenics). The hyhat will often not actually be interested in the burien, instead having a number of queens, consorts, and concubines who may also father children, though the children remain mere princes even if they are older than the child of the burien. Below these royal positions lie the prodesias, who are elected politicians and make up the main house of the legislature. The other house is made up of the minidesias, who are appointed civil servants. The head of government is the Altradena, who is elected by a vote of all three houses (the prodesias, the minidesias, and the populace) and may be any official currently in the government (often the hyhat or burien is also altadena) and runs the government as a prime minister would. Though prodesias are always male civil servants may be any sex. Though the populace is treated as a third house issues rarely go to referendum, instead going to one of the two real ones or both.

Literature and Language: The Capricoids do have both a form of writing and language, though they are far more vocal than literary. Because of their legs positions writing is done in large characters and on large pieces of paper, and is kept to only being used on formal documents and signs where having a voice would not work. More often they will merely talk by using a language that consists mainly of various sounds in different tones (example: Maaaa (you) is different from MAAAA (them)) translating it is vary hard and therefore when translating into human various hard to differentiate syllables become easier ones (MAAAA becomes Ils). Often times keeping a record is done by recording a voice rather than writing it down, thus books are replaced by audio tape type machines.

Urban Planning: Capricoid cities are often very cramped and have buildings facing out onto a street, with a lawn in the back and often times bushes. Steps are not used, so most one story buildings are right on ground level or accessed by a ramp. Ramps are used in the case of many tall buildings, with the occasional lift (a human idea imported). Rarely do capricoids have their own vehicles, often choosing to take public transportation in the form of sunken trams that run in the center of many streets. Others simply walk to work. Buildings are often not very tall, but more wide. Suburbs are very desirable and spread out, often with vast lawns and terraces with lawns.

Religion: Though some Capricoids have shown interest in Human and other foreign faiths, due to their contradicting many things in these faiths the majority of them stick to ones that are capricoid in origin.
42% Havarine (Maxadragalonian Orthodox)
27% Fradic (Fradinisticonian Orthodox)
13% Movocaina (Relatively new Capricoid Religion)
8% Reformed Havarine
6% Frado-Islamic (hybrid Islamic/Frandic)
6% Zoroastrian
4% Christian

The current dynasty is Movocaina, making it the first of that faith to ever hold the position. Movocaina and Fradic are both monotheist, while Havarine is bitheist and resembles Zoroastrianism.

Time: Capricoid Time is kept in terms of the years of a dynasty, Capricoid years are measured in the traditional Jaruine (Ancestral Maxadragalonian) way, with a year of 20 month of 11 days or a length of about 27 hours. The current year is the 3201st of the Tontates (or Mercantile) Dynasty. The Tontateses came to power after relations between the Hsianam Dynasty and the Capricorn Mercantor Co. broke down and the company had a coup to take over the Hyhatate in HD 2760. For the first thousand years the Hyhatate was more or less the tool of the company, but after many reforms it is now completely separate (though the company symbol still appears on the flag next to the Tontates symbol).

My point is that being able to write a good long piece means nothing. All it means is that the person talks a lot. This could be a sign that he's competant. But not really. If anything, it gets in the way, because no matter how useful his page long essays are, they aren't going to be read by many. What you have here is experiance against a person who is unproven, but wrote a lot. I think me and Noldodan could both write a lot on Domestic. That's not the issue. The issue isn't how sweet you can talk, but if you can actually do your job. Me and Noldy can.

Go with experiance, not longwindedness. We don't need more fluff. I'm damn tired of reading reports five pages long.

That's some great spam there Epi! :D But I think he has a point there. Which is better, a succint summary of an idea, or incredibly detailed, long-winded reports? Sometimes that much writing presents your idea better, but more often it simply dilutes it. Most people don't have the patience to read a full report on every single proposal. Putting a lot of thought into decision-making is a good thing, but when it comes in great gulps like that, you can't digest it.

So you're saying we should not let the inexperience in office? How will they gain experience then by not actually doing it? That is like basically saying keep the same people in office over and over and not let anyone new in.

noldy has lots of experiance, my vote goes to him
sorry sd3 it was really hard for me to choose in between you on noldy

SD3 ALL THE WAY!

SD3 being new shouldn't hurt his chances. I believe he is most capable of handling this sort of work.

Go SD3. I didn't say I liked SD3's writing because it was long winded and entailing. I said I liked it because it was well done. Even his short blurbs are "well written". I also said that he was active. He is. I remember when we were hard pressed to find our Domestic Advisor. But SD3 was right there, knocking out a post. I'm wondering if he can do a much better job at polling than either one of the other candidates, and he has NO experience. In fact, I bet he can. (Disclaimer - Noldo's poll writing has improved.)

I see many informal voting blocs comments based on prior DG games...

Well, looks like I've lost this one... :( Well, Sir Donald III, welcome to the Domestic Ministry! Don't expect me to roll over and give up, though. I'll be back next election!

I would have an acceptance speech, but apparently some people aren't too keen on "longwindedness." ;)

I will say that by the time the next election rolls around, we should have at least two Provinces, and hopefully a good cash reserve. Having Cash to upgrade Horses to Saamurai would proabably be a make-or-break for a Treasurer this term. Oh, and the "completion" of my settlement plan... i.e. we have cities nearly where we want them.

Oh, and you're still Deputy, Noldo. At least as soon as we pass Article G and Section... 2 now?
