Following the two day discussion, this issue has reached a poll. The problem is what to do when we have captured enemy cities, gained them through culture, etc. In the last demogame, in which we captured every city, they were renamed from the list (rather than anything related to the prior name), though this was a bit confusing. This time around, we have not had any official policy, and this will set it. The choices are:
-Leave the city names. Example: Allegheney stays Allegheney.
-Make the names sound Japanese. Example: Allegheney becomes Alligani.
-Rename them in the order listed. Example: Allegheney becomes Regent Town (should that be next on the list).
-Change the city names according to Sir Donald III's proposal. Example: once Allegheney gets a majority of Japanese citizens, it becomes Regent Town (should that be next on the list)
The poll is public, and runs for two days. An abstain obtion has been included for Ravensfire.
In most proposals (unless otherwise stated) exceptions would be made for wonder cities, capitals, and refoundations.
The City Naming Office endorses making the names sound Japanese, for the following reasons:
-It maintains cultural and language regularity.
-It keeps the names sounding the same, so not too much confusion is caused.
-It's realistic.
-It shows that we've occupied it should it be retaken.
-It would not apply to refoundations.
