I apologize. While there is nothing in the list of duties or in the Constitution about "Govenrment Switches", the latter does task me with all "Domestic Initatives." And I feel that a change in government is such an initative.
This is such an important initative that it must be brought before the People, and I'm sorry to put this before you at 18 hours before the turnchat. (There goes reeelection...)
Anyway, discussion in this thread.
Summary of Pros: More Food, Shields, and Gold. Less corruption/waste.
Summary of Cons: 1 turn loss of production. Currently have more units than we can support under Monarchy. (21 vs 20. This does include an active settler, which will settle before we change govt. However, as the build queue currently stands, we'll be in for an influx of swords and/or spears.)
This poll will last for 18 hours (i.e. end 20 minutes before Turnchat starts.)
If the TC ends before we get Monarchy, then any new polls will superceed this one.

Objective criteria: Production, food and commerce bonuses, gold buys, less corruption and so on. Remember which people advocated early monarchy.
