Suicide galleys anyone ?

I think we should first just sail around the continent and look for any straits, islands, etc. That way we're sending them out with an idea of where they might be trying to go.

Well.... Maybe rich and famous.....

Having exclusive contact between the continents allows us to make more trades, which will improve the AIs' attitudes toward us. Therefore, we will be popular.

I think suicide galleys should be used; I would have to look at the map again, but it seems that sending galleys to west until they are successful would be a good approach.

Because we are playing Vanilla civ and not Conquests, I would agree to this proposal. After 2 or so attempts, if we reach the other continent and explore it ourselves / trade for contacts (Not by giving contacts though! Giving gold or techs.) we will have a good link between the continents as the only one to know both. Then, when we feel we need a post in techs and gold, we can sell those contacts.

In short: Yes, I do. ;)

I'm thinking maybe one or two galleys for now and see if we could actually make it using suicide galleys. If we can then let's go for it.

Of course we can make it. If we are unlucky enough, it could take a constant stream of galleys, but I don't think we'll be that unlucky.

We should at least produce 2-3 galleys for mapping the external coast, and when we have covered most of the coast, maybe see an opportune time for a risky voyage.

I have a quick question, hopefully someone can answer it; where exactly is this continent in relation to ours (North, south, etc?). I was looking at the 510 BC worldmap in the Screenshots Thread in the main forum, and I didn't see any telltale signs of a new continent. Of course, this doesn't mean I'm against suicide galleys, I just want to know where the continent is. Thanks. :)

We're in the western hemisphere so the other continent is in the eastern hemisphere. It could be 2 continents but considering that this map is probably pangea, I doubt it.

Considering we're on a continent with half the civilizations taking up half the map, I seriously doubt this is pangaea.

I've seen pangea maps with 2 huge continents...

Yeah, but its not usually this even. Half the world and half the civs on one continent seems more even then I've usually seen on pangaea.

And Pangaea should, by definition, be one continent. :p
