Howdy folks!

I had a good time with my lizardman emperor game, and it seems one or two people read it :)

What I'd like to do this time, is a wee bit different.

I'd like to start a game, post the save, and have one or two other folks play the same game, write their own battle report or story, and see how the game would unfold with some one else at the helm.

I think it would be interesting to the story readers to see different play styles, and also a fun challenge to see which players can win the game, and how they go about doing it.

The game with be with the New Warhammer Mod, with the new patch installed (new patch lets you load spell casters on boats, longer range on spell bombardment, less units in armies, and lots of other changes that ballance the game).

Civ's I'd like to play, in no particular order are:
Orcs
Araby
Nippon

although any is fine, those are my top 3 that i'd like to do a story game with.

If you're interested in participating in "Sem's Challenge"
Post below with wich civ you'd like to play.

We'd also need to come up with a name for all of our storys that lets people know they're connected. For example if we pic the orcs, we could all call our posts "Orc Onslaught : Semulin" and have each of us put our names after the :

So sign up below if you want in, the story can be written how ever you like, see my Draconian Times story for an example of a battle report, or Black Adders Albion story for a great example of a real story with humor.

Look forward to the game!

Good point.

I'd prefer Large mapsize & Emperor Difficulty, though that's open for debate if it's really important to a potential player.

I also usually click "random" for the world age, climate and rain amount, though again, if that's important we can select them.

Thanks!

Allright - I allways said I wasn't up to this, but I'm impatient and I wanna read this, so count me in (if that's ok for you) - a few notes though:
I really have some more work to do, so I can't put as much effort into it as I could in Blackadder (that's one of the reasons I'd like to join - Blackadder 2 would demand too many graphics, writing and time, because I wouldn't want it to become less elaborate than Blackadder 1.
From the civs you mentioned, I'd like the orcs best - and because they're no artists or great writers, I think they could work well with less effort.
Another thingy: I suck at civ and don't like random maps - so expect me to lose badly - I'd prefer not to see it as a competition :crazyeye:.

[edit]: Another note - climate and age are not that important, but I'd prefer 70% water or more and and anything but Pangea...

If you can live with all that, upload your game :)

YAY!

I'll get us started tonight or tomorrow am. This can be kind of like a Warhammer Game of the Month.

I don't really want to think of it as a competition either, more of a parallel universe kind of thing, and I was hoping orcs would be the ones picked.

I'll do continents w/ 70% water and set us on a Large map with random opponents.

I'll post the save in this thread and then start a new one for my "story."

One last thought though. Should we not read eachothers threads till it's all said and done?

I'd love to see how your orcs are developing, but I don't want to find out more of the map than I'm supposed to.

I'm also excited to see if the same AI civs become superpowers in our games, this should be great fun.

And to any other lurkers, it's not too late to sign up! post here if you want to play too, and we'll get started.

Allright - 70% continents large map sounds fine. All random civs is okay too, but maybe making sure some elves (high or wood) are in the game could give an opportunity for some long feud (I plan to rather make decisions depending on the story rather than what would be the wisest tactically, so expect stupid moves :ack:...).

I don't think not reading each others threads will be realistic - it's too tempting in the long run. It could give us an advantage (I could use that anyway :D), but we could agree on not posting world maps until most area has been settled or everyone has been met by both of us.

A few other thoughts: I presume we have default victory conditions? And some info on stuff like respawn AI players and culturally linked starting locations would be fine.
Title: I think Semulins/Blackadders Orc Onslaught sounds fine...

*hopes he gets no jungle start*

This sounds like a Succession Game. You might want to go into that forum. There are LOTS of people who trade off games every so often that play in there. It's a sub-forum of Stories and Tales, so it should be easy to find.

Arathorn

@ Aranthorn - It's not quite a sucession game. We're not going to trade off, but play our own games. We'll just have the same start point. Think of it as a "Game of the Month" for Warhammer, with only 2 people playing :)

I've read tons of Sucession games and love the concept, although my daughters, wife, job, heroin habit, etc take up alot of time, so I don't think i'dd be able to participate in one.

Just kidding about the junk :)

@ Black Adder - yea, that's a good idea, just don't post world maps, I can handle that. We seem to play at approx the same pace, so it shoulden't take too long any way. Since it's a story, I'll pop some elves and such in, so that we have some classic opponents to contend with. I think we have 15 opponents on Large, so list any you can't live with out, and i'll set the rest to random. I'm thinking wood and high elves for us to fight, and maby the goblins so we have some friends out there.

@Arathorn: I know the succession game forums and even thought of playing one with the WH mod, but the point is that we wont succeed each other, but write quite different stories about the game - so basically it rather belongs into stories and tales imho. The only difference from a normal story is that there'll be two of them.
I personally don't mind where this takes place, but maybe asking some mod on his opinion sounds like a good idea before we open our threads...

edit: oops - semulin was faster...

another edit: I don't know many of the civs too well, so I'll post some I'd like to see (not important - if you rather have them random, I can deal with it):

Slann
Dwarves

They're both really unique and would add lots of diversity in the game.

Albion - just because I want to see them from another perspective :D
Reikland and Bretonnia are some classic do gooders imho, so they'd make great adversaries, as well as elves.

Cathay, Nippon, Ungols, Ind and Araby are less important to me - leaving them out could give the game a more classic fantasy feeling, but I don't really mind.

I don't care what to do with the other chaotic factions - if they're in, it means more potential allies, if they're out, less competition to produce chaos specific wonders.

@ Africian-American Calculator - Oh, also, I was under the impression that "Culurally linked start" was buggy in the wh mod, so I usually leave it off. I'd also planed on Default Victory conitions, but the more I think about it....

As long as it's orcs on a Large map, I don't have any other preferences. Would you like to start us off and post the save here? that way you can set up some opponents and make sure the world land / sea coverage are to your liking. You'll likely be able to do it before me any way, have church tonight.

Here you go - didn't even restart.

Specs: Large, Continents, 70% ocean, climate and age are random, roaming barbs , default rules
dwarfs, slann, reikland, bretonnia, high elves and albion are chosen, the rest is random, emperor difficulty.

The culturally linked start is bugged, period. It just picks your opponents from similar cultural groups (i e playing as Inca you're likely to have Maya in the game), but the starting positions are entirely random. Besides, the culture groups in WH are not exactly the same sizes (dwarves are alone!)...

Why not post the start view (i e your lone settler before building your capital) in this thread (as a picture, of course)? :)

@ Adder - post when ready sir, I'll stay out of it untill I can play through the beginning. With church tonight and the Survivor premere tomorrow, I may not get hard core into this untill the weekend. I can resist the urge, even if only for a few days, and I don't want you to have to wait on my slow arse to post.

@mrtn - I'll be posting all the start stuff in my story thread, just like it was a normal story for me. That way it can stand alone, and be part of the "saga" of mine and adders. I think i'm going to try to do a bit of real story telling this time rather than just report, orc culture is always fun to wright about, and it might be fun to do some serious shorts about a non human culture.

I know im a bit late but i just finished my story and was wondering if i could join this. I need some more experiance under my belt. Though ive never played at emperor level and will probaly get wiped out early.

@Tyrion: Would be great to have more variety. One little hint though: download it and play ahead for some time and see how things work out for you - then you can still decide if you give it a go (just because you mentioned you never played on emp...).

@Semulin: I've just seen that yours started - can't wait to see it, but I still resist the urge groucho...
