Hello, I'm a PBEM Conscript, and I'm hoping one of you Veterans/Elites can help. ;)

We started a new PBEM based on Rise of Rome conquest. However, after everyone took their first turn, I (Rome) got the save back, for my second turn, and it is still showing the date as 350BC (Turn 0). I open the save, type in my password, and I get the pop-ups for my new production, but then I'm still in 350BC. All units that I moved last turn still show as having already moved, the only units I can move are the newly produced workers and a few I had left fortified from my first turn. Even the F8 still shows it's on turn 0. But all my cities now have 2 turns worth of food/shields accumulated, etc.

I've started a new, test PBEM, just to see how it processes the turns, and it appears that after the last player turn (Carthage, in this case), it should process the 'end of turn' stuff and increment the turn number, so that it generates a 345BC save. But the save I got still shows 350BC. Anyone have any ideas? Loulong thought someone else had experienced this recently, so I was hoping someone might have a solution. Thanks for any help. :)

I have not tried this scenario, but the problem you describe sounds
somewhat like the "skip first turn bug". This bug is common on the WW2
pacific scenario. It happens on certain computers but not others.

If you are playing one of the allies in that scenario you are not able
to move on the first turn, that is normal. The problem starts on turn
2, you still cannot move any units (except newly built ones). I didn't
take notice of the game turn indicator. By game turn 3 everything is normal
again.

There is a simple fix for this bug, use the editor to change the player order,
and turn off the "skip first turn flag". Your bug is different, since you did
move on GT 1, but it may be related to this other bug.

Thanks for the responses, it appears we've fixed the problem. :) The last human player needs to hit End Turn before saving, just a quick Save & Exit doesn't seem to process the end-of-turn stuff.

Loulong, did you put that in your new players guide? It was so basic
I didn't even think of it.

Sorry, did I mention I'm a PBEM Conscript! ;) This is my first attempt, so I'm sure I'll be learning as I go. We also discovered that your cities begin with one turn's sheilds/food in the box at start also, you might want to add that to the guide as it confused me at first as well. Thanks again!

Wellcome to the wonderful world of PBEM, Justus II!!! Happy to see you in this forum!

It would be highly desirable if there is a possibility to play a couple of PBEMs with you!

I must admit I did not think about that. Kind of obvious when you have some experience but I guess not that obvious when you start.

I will write that down in the guide for sure !

Well, is there a romantic affair going on between you two ( ;-) ).
I plan on starting another AoD scenario next week (now that ours is rolling it makes for a pretty nice game), would you care to join (I will be playing that one).

@Akots: Thanks for the encouragement! I would definitely be interested in playing a PBEM against you, we've had some challenging SGs together. I'm sure adding real diplomacy to the mix would be quite a challenge!

@LouLong: I'd be interested in an AoD scenario (Have to think about a preference for civ ;) ), If Akots is available, that would be a good opportunity. I don't want to overload myself, but at a turn every day or two, adding a second PBEM shouldn't be too bad. Thanks again for your help with getting Zama back on track.

Hey Justus!

One night this week I had 5 turns ready for me, and I believe three downloaded and ready to go when I'm done my stuff online tonight.

I look forward to crossing paths with you in the near future...
