Robin Hood is on his way back home

In the other thread for this turn exploration, some people asked about the north's jungle. What was proposed is to send the archer there. I'm not with it, and I presented evidence that the land was near to finish. I decided to open a new poll anyway, since I can be wrong. So here is again the screen shot, and the poll about the archer.

No. The archer should escort our first settler unit to the assigned city location. Let us not forget the numerous reports from our scouts of barbarian activity in the region. Robin commands our elite, and should not be sent far to the north leaving our fair city and its new colony undefended.

Can the city minister please tell us how long the settler will take to build please? From the screenshot, it will take 13 turns for the archer to get to the jungle and back (to city site B, my favourite), assuming that the land does not continue after the jungle. Did someone say that we won't get barbs until our capital reaches size 3 (except from huts)? How long does that take?

I would say yes to Robin making a quick expedition to the jungle and to turn back to the 2nd city location asap regardless of whether there is more land that way.(where are we in conjunction with the whole world map).
I don't think there is a need to escort the settler to the spot(Spot B please ) If we are planning to build a linking road immediately then Robin can take his time and explore a bit more.

I am completely against the idea of our horseys doing a U-turn as they could be far more productive popping huts. If we get any free units then whether these units are NONs would be a fair indication of how close the AI is.

I would like the archer to uncover the area to the west of the western horse since it looks like the horse will be going east...

I am sure there lies nothing behind the jungle.There is no need to go up there.

The archer is much more useful where he can defend our next city. I doubt there is anything to the north, and even if there is, it will take a long time to get the archer up there. It just doesn't seem worth it.

Although I voted "No" before, I think that since it will take a few more turns before the settler is built, we may as well take that time to move the archer, or Robin as he now seems to be called, two squares south so that we can uncover the missing square in Olympia's city radius. This won't compromise his defence of the settler, once built, and will prove useful. It is my belief that we are on a small (ish) island and that we'll have to go sailing to explore any further. I hope not: there may be some more habitable land beyond the two horsies but I feel it's unlikely.
