Military Advisors Poll #2: General City Production

The war should not cripple our economy. Knowing when to strike is the key. Methinks its still too soon...

We have several markets underway, my feeling is we should finish them.

Then we can launch an offensive. I propose two:

Code Name Operation Ivory Tusk . Build elephants to capture Mongol cities and expand our empire into thiers. This would be a strain on our young economy though.

Code Name Operation Violet Fury . City-Planner poll to create two diplomats, load 'em on the trireme, then BRIBE them over to our side! This could give us more bang for the buck.

Well ,i voted option 1. Although im more pro micro management than taking a general direction. We have some very productive city's ,and we have some city's that boost a good science/tax rate.We don't have to build a marketplace in every city at once ,for the moment build the marketplace's (and library's) in the city's with the highest income's/population's (like Duckpond for ex. :D ) And build some unit's in the smaller more productive city's. (Hippoville ,Olympia) Both these city's have not a high growth rate/potential for this moment but they have a good productional potential ,i guess we can use these city's better to produce our army's.

I propose the Code Name Operation Ivory Tusk

Cool name. :D

Well ,we may not be planning for a date for that operation ,but it seems obvious that in the nearby future we will embark on our mission. As thus maybe we can plan already the amount and type of army's we'll send there ,and what objective's we aim for.

We can see on our map the city's of Tabriz and Bokhara (Karakourum is their Capital ,it's not shown on the map yet but i'm sure it must be there somewhere.
Anyway the city of Tabriz looks like an easy target at this point ,and it's placed on some good land ,and the fact that it is located on a sort of isthmus make's it very defendable to.

Don't know how much objective's we should aim for yet ,But Tabriz surely looks like a simple objective.

My proposal:

Force itself for this campaign:

3 pikemen
6 crusader's
supporting ship's

objective's:

Tabriz and Bokhara

prefered strategy:

coastal invasion's with crusader's. (let's raid them)

later on:

:nuke:

:D

Man, these forum downtimes have slowed the game a bit, I couldn't play till i saw the polls!

The markets will all be finished in less then 10 turns, and we will be researching crusaders at that time.

Keep in mind that those two cities are small and without walls, so an attack now will destroy, not capture.

I also think Duck's force is beyound our capability, we would need a few more ships just to haul such a force (we currently have only two ships, with a lift capacity of 4 units maximum), in fact we would need to build three more ships, plus produce 9 units, for 11 total, and what we would get most likely is nothing, as the cities would be destroyed, not captured.
All of this would tie up our resources for centuries will little gain, I suggest a little prudence, as their cities grow, they become easier to capture, and a better option right now would be increased economy, and a few diplos to bribe those two cities, which is something we could pull off with a better economy rather easily.

I also voted option #1, as a strong military can only exist in a robust economy.

From Poll #1, the citizens spoke by voting for action. They do not want this insult un-answered.

AoA's plan for the use of bribery has merit, and could bring the best return, or "bang for the buck", than anything else we can do at this time. I support that plan now. It requires no more than two diplomats and one existing ship.

Code name: Operation Violet Fury

At this point, I feel I have almost overstepped my authority. The city planners have jurisdiction as to city production. However, this is a general poll, not for each city.

Perhaps a clever city planner might post a poll to build a couple diplomats in one or two of our cities...
:satan:

I voted for an immediate military action in Military Poll #1, but now AoA's changed my mind. Now I voted for finishing the marketplaces, then going for military stuff.

Maybe I got used to Civ III pre-patch: when you conquered a city it was never automatically destroyed.

EDIT: I forgot the most important: I could redo a poll, but I think I'd be limited to my province.

Maybe the clever city planner in this case is Spycatcher. ;)
