Based on tradition and symbolism, I reassigned the civs' colors. Just use the list below and assign them yourself with Civ3Edit. I do have a .bic file that reassigns these colors, but since all its other settings are defaults, I assume few people would want it. If otherwise, speak.

The seventeen colors below are listed in order as they appear on the list in Civ3Edit, light gray being the first and black the last of the seventeen usable colors.

Do not use any color on the Civ3Edit list past black (no.17), because Civilization 3 will crash.

gray(l) - Rome; the bright marble buildings and the peoples’ togas and tunics.
red - England; St. George's red, traditional
orange - India; their Hinduism, traditional
yellow - Egypt; (original) the sand, their holy Sun, Tut’s gold, and the pyramids
green(d)- Aztecs; the jungles where they lived, and the eyes of the jaguar
blue(l) - Greece; the sea, and the light blue of their flag
blue - France; St. Martin's blue on their flags, traditional
pink - Barbarians; a color that stands out for the non-civilization; plus the ruddy flesh of some
purple - Babylon; royal color for the archetype monarchy
brown - Iroqois; their leather, and the color of the earth
green - Russia; from 1800s flag, traditional
red(d) - Japan; their rising sun
gray(d) - Germany; war iron, traditional
blue(d) - America; the blue of their flag, traditional
blue(tq)- China; the Emperor’s dragon on the old flag, their porcelain
pink(l) - Persia; the sandstone buildings and pink marble, and their pale red trimming
black - Zululand; from Zulu and African flags, traditional

That's what's going on!?

Just started playing with the editor and Gramphos's copy tool today. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why sometimes it crashed and sometimes everything went off without a hitch.

Wish I ran across this post 4 hours ago!

Thanx

How did you reassign the colors? well I know were it is and how to do it but I CAN NOT GET DOWN THERE AS THE EDIT THING IS TOO BIG AND IT DON'T FIT ON THE WHOLE SCREEN! ALSO THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO GO LOWER! CAN ANYONE HELP ME GET LOWER!
In case no one understood that, here is a screenshot of the problem
as you can see the colors and a few other things CANNOT be altered as I can't get to them!
It won't get smaller! It won't let me scroll down! #@^@% THE#$^%#4 AN@#^ YOUR #$^ SID!

i actually have no trouble using civ color 18 for my viking civ. but then i added it, so maybe you can only use so many colors for so many civs; like 18 civs, can use colors up to 18, etc.

cuz i remember when i first added my viking civ i gave it another color, prob like 20 something.... and it would crash, but 18 doesnt

edit: i first said 17 cuz in FLICster it goes 0-16 (16 being black), not 1-17, as you are putting it

Kefka,

Changing your resolution is the best answer. But if you can't do that, you're not totally SOL.

Even though you can't scroll, you should still be able to "grab & drag" the editor window around. Click on an empty area of the tab, hold down the mouse button, and move the mouse around. The visible portion of the UI window should move around on your screen, and if you move the mouse in the right direction (up), the "change color" option should come into view where you can access it.

I guess I must change the resolution cause thats a veiw of it already draged up. cause you can only drag that thing from the top.
but one quick question were can I change the res. ?
you guys had to know that question was comming

Generally you can just right-click on your desktop (on the background, not on an icon) and select "properties". In the dialog that comes up, select the "Settings" tab. On the lower left there should be a bar (that looks kind of like a volume control) for changing your resolution.

Holy **** I just did it and all the words are just to SMALL!
this just looks too weird for me I will only use it when I need it

Zbear, I too modded the colours and chose many of the same ones you did for the same reasons (except my Romans are purple because that is where Imperial Purple came from). I did it because I play the English and orange just didn't seem right - they were never called the orange coats afterall. What I really want to say however is thank you for the explanation of what colours work, which crash. In my mod, I get 50-60% crashes on the first turn. This is almost certainly because I have used one or two of the 'forbidden' colours and if one of these civs shows up, my game crashes. I'll change that in the .bic file and see what happens. Thanks again:goodjob: .
