I just received this great news from Jeff Morris:

-----------------
We're scheduled to release the next Civilization III patch on Friday the 15th of February, at 2pm EST. If all goes well I'll release the portion of readme.txt that details the changes tomorrow (Wednesday). Please share the news with the fans!

Jeff

Good job Firaxis!!! Can't wait to see the list of changes tomorrow! :goodjob:

OH wow! This is great! I hadn't any inkling of an upcoming patch!!
I hope it fixes the bombardment problem...I hope even more that it has multiplayer, but a .01 increment doesn't seem too likely for that, unfortunately...:(
Still, this made my month! :D

Big thumbs up, anyone want to venture a guess to the changes that will be put into the patch?

I am hopeing for more corruption control, and obviously a fix to the bombardment issue. What do people think will be in the patch, guess it before we find out tommorow.

I really hope they take away the ***multi***.SAV cheat/bug that recently was discovered...

I'd like to think that there will be some performance improvements but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I hope/suspect some of the following will be included:

Fix to some of the obvious glitchs that only affect some platforms (such as ME?).

Correction to the display issues (that crept into the last patch) - such as fuzzy pop numbers on cities, civ relationship lines that disappear.

Bombardment 'feature' removed.

Improvement to AI trading (especially with regard to cities - which was virtually crippled in the 1.16 patch).

Addition Editor options - such as a zoom (but I doubt they had time for that); starting locations; city placement; unit placement; etc.

Anyway, I'm sure it will be a 'must have' patch and I expect the servers to be buzzing on the 15th.

I second opinion that it'd better have starting player positions in map editor, 10 years into Civ's and I ALWAYS play for Russians and whenever I feel fancy playingon Earth I just cant stand being spawned in Africa!

Also, they'd better include new actors for civ leaders for YOUR civ, allow optional YOUR name and one of some preset looks! I hate this Cathrine who is ugly :(

I would not hope for multiplayer in 1.17f, but it'd better be on its way!!!

yeah the editor really needs to be overhauled to make map making better. also a way to actually play scenarios wouldnt be to bad....

Besides bombardment bug fix and AI trading during your turn fix, I also expect the patch to fix the diplomacy screen bug some people experience.

Scenario making! Better have it soon.
Civ placement can be done by CivPlacement Tool.

Did he state it was 1.17f?

I thought it would be more major changes then that ;)

Yup, the version number is in the email subject. :scan:

I am willing to bet that some worker at Firaxis saw the new cheat code discovered and said, "Hey we better fix this and disguise it as a patch!" So for you people who have started to rely on the cheat code DON"T DOWNLOAD THE PATCH. This patch if it gets rid of the cheat should put in specific starting places, more civs, a way to see all 16 civs on Foriegn Adviser screen, and less corruption so that half of my cities on a huge map don't only make 1 sheild.

Well the "Multi"-cheat is a cheat that nobody should use, it should only be used for fun...

This is a real GOTM threatener, how can Matrix see if anyone has cheated if they use this cheat?

May I ask what will happen if the starting locations are not in there? Does someone need to contact Tom Ridge?

Maybe additional Civs being added, such as the Celts and Vikings?? That would be nice. Also, if the workers being killed by their own troops when returning to town got fixed. Anyway, anything new is welcome.
