This is a normal succession game played on a very unusual map. Take a look at the screenshots below to see what I mean.

World: Standard, continents, 70% water
Climate: all defaults
Opponents: 7 random computer
Player Civ: Iroquois
Difficulty: Monarch
Victory Conditions: Only Domination
Rules: 20 turns first play, 15 second, 10 after that
Don't automate workers until end of game, no gotos or queues

This is a world where cities can be built anywhere. However, all of the good stuff like resources and luxuries can only be found on the "continents". Cities founded in the "sea" will have high growth potential but very few shields to produce anything. The goal of this game is to win a domination victory by having an obscene amount of territory.

This will play like a large map due to the fact that ALL of the map can be settled. Expect long turns and a lot of micromanagement by the industrial age. I am looking for players who can hold their own on monarch level and preferrably are good at expanding, because there will be a lot of that to do here. I picked the Iroquois because I wanted an expansionist (for early scouting) civ that had a fast-moving unique unit to cover all that ground.

If this sounds interesting to you, just reply and you're in. I'm taking a total of 5 players (4 others and me) for this game. The pictures below are NOT from the map we are playing on; they are from the original idea created by IamSPARTACUS. I generated a random standard map and filled in all the water with grassland.

All credit for this idea goes to IamSPARTACUS.

If it were Regeant or lower, I'd probably try it. I only got half way through the GOTM before I was sluaghtered by the Russians. :) (after a 500 year defensive war).

I'd play if I'm given some pointers, though, or maybe play 5-10 turns so I don't mess the game up too much. :)

Chieftess - I will put you last in this game in the #5 slot so you don't have to feel as though a single mistake in the early game will destroy everything. Play as many turns as you like - if you would rather not play 20 on the first turn then don't, but I will leave that to your discretion. And you aren't the only one having a rough time in Game of the Month #5... I started out doing very well, setting up a situation to destroy the French early on. I treacherously attacked them by capturing their unprotected worker and goaded their warrior into attacking one of mine that was fortified on a hill. I was then set up with two warriors ready to attack Paris, which was defended only by one warrior. The odds of winning in this situation are about 70%, but I got unlucky and both warriors lost (the defending guy was at 1hp, of course). So instead of destroying the French and having room to expand, I had no military and they were coming straight for me. I had to whip a spearman just to avoid them capturing my capital (ouch  ) To make matters worse, barbarians began killing all my archers that I sent after the French before they could get there. After losing two to barbarians, I turned the game off for another day. I'm definitely the last-place civ in the world right now, but I believe I can pull my way out with some luck. We'll see.

Ouch. I had no barb problems. :) Though, I think refusing a Russian trade (they wanted New York - with had an iron resource!), made them take New York with a vengence. They brought the French in, but I managed to hold them off somehow! I was planning on moving several troops to N.Y., but there were just too many Russians!

Anyway, let the games begin! (BTW, are you still playing the Japan SG?). I'm not sure if I want to touch it now. :) The Zulus aren't my favorite to go against...

hey chieftess long time see or wahtever is appropriate:D i'll play if you want me to sulla. acttually i'd appreciate it. i've only got one turn to do right now it another game and i just posted two other's but i'd like one more to round things out.

anyways just let me know somehow. i'm in the greek emperor level game and it's not going well cause at 800BC we know nobody at all, and are all on our lonesome on a fais sized conitent. very aggravating:mad: ifyou know what i mean.

oh by the way i love to expand, it's my second favorite thing next to winning.

Sounds good Axid. You have the #2 spot in the rotation. Turn order goes like this:

1) Sulla
2) Axid
3) ????? (open still)
4) ????? (open still)
5) Chieftess, our somewhat reluctant player who is willing to try my crazy game ideas :D

To anyone else out there, there remains two open spots to the first two that claim them. I will create the game and play the first turn once I get one more person in the game. That and I'm pretty absored in Game of the Month #5 right now - fighting a winning war against Russia as we speak.

:egypt:
I got some game tips from someone, and just tried them out, (so far, 2 for 2 in Chieftain mode. :))

Time for Warlord, then on to Regeant!

I went ahead and started the game in the hopes of getting the final two players to join. Yeah I took 30 turns because the beginning of the game is so slow, but you should only take 20. Here's the quick summary:

(0) 4000BC Salamanaca founded on initial site. Warrior begun training.

(1) 3950BC I set us to researching Broze Working. With luck we'll find some good techs with our scout.

(2) 3900BC Wow! Found the Americans already! They are intolerably close to us. Will have to do something about that...

(8) 3600BC Dang it - we run into the Aztecs this turn! This is a standard sized map - why the hell are our opponents so close? First Game of the Month #5 and now this...

(18) 3100BC First settler produced. Heading to the site I chose.

(22) 2900BC Hey! We finally find a goody hut! Will be popped next turn.

(23) 2850BC Maps of the area... I would have like a settler.

(30) 2150BC We're essentially even with the two other civs at this point. I will leave the option of more peaceful expansion or full-fledged warfare to the next player.

Lot of different paths to take at this point. I'm going to leave policy up to the next player - Axid should be up next. Here's a map of where we are now.

We could try and cut the Americans off, but, I've always noticed that civs like to waltz through your territory with settlers. :)

yea i know it's my turn, now. i haven't been on the net since noon. i'll get the game and try to decide what to do. i'll have to post it tommorrow, hopefully afternoon maybe evening. anyways i have no idea what to do about the americans and aztecs. we'll definately have to take them out at some point, probably sononer rather than later. i'll try to set it up.

We are not alone with the americans and the aztecs. you won't believe it but there are not 3 or even 4 but 7 AI civs on this continent!!!   :hammer::aargh3: and they are the egyptians, british, greek, germans:mad::aargh3: and the romans. things just go a whole lot more complicated. and i for one am not looking forward to this mess. i'll post it tommorrow cause this is definatly going to take a while. :crazyeyes

a war is out of the question for now.

a war is out of the question for now.

Or, "Piece by diplomacy". :D (Of course, we could go cultural, and watch the cities flock to us! Although, that's a long shot.)

Here’s my turn with this game so far.

2430BC- trade pottery to egypt for and 30$ for masonry. Trade masonry to aztecs for 40$.

2390BC- trade 60$ to egypt for alphabet. Also 3$/per turn and 6$ for mysticism.

2350BC- settler in Salamanaca start a spearman.

2230BC- meet england, shes to greedy to trade with for now.

2190BC- Temple in Niagra falls, start a settler.

2150BC- discover the wheel, start work on horseback riding. Build Grand River, and start a warrior in it.

2110BC- build a spearman in Salamanaca and start a settler. Send spearman of to Grand River.

2030BC- try to trade, none worth doing.

1950BC- america declares war.

1910BC- spearman built in Niagra Falls, start a barracks.

1870BC- settler built in Salamanaca, start a barracks.

1830BC- trade 13$ for contact with the greek. Trade mysticism with the greek for contact with the germans and 5$. Trade contact with germans for contact with romans. Trade masonry to england for 10$. All in all not a very profitable turn.

1750BC- america is approaching with warriors.

1700BC- america attacks Niagra Falls with a warrior, we win with minimal damage. Palace expands. Whip barracks in Niagra Falls and Salamanaca. Build Allegheny and start a warrior in it.

I uped our science so that we get horseback riding in tree turns, rather than 7 like it was, the one drawback is it is for –3$. Our treasury can handle it however. Why I did this is because america needs to be dead quickly. We also almost have a road to a horse near Niagra Falls. Next turn and then we can crank out some vet mounted warriors. It should be rather and easy victory, I hope.
it's definately a mess to an extint.

Well, I guess it's my turn. Well, here goes nothing! :D
*whimper**whimper*
:crazyeyes

don't worry about it chieftess, you can't really mess up right now.;)

1700 BC - (0)

Micromanaged Grand River to build the temple in 5 turns instead of 8. Switched 2 wasted shields to produce 2 commerce.

1675 BC - (1)

Barracks are built. The American warrior is just standing there, gawking at our city!
Road to horses done in 2 turn. Horseback riding in 2.

1650 BC - (2)

Another American warrior heads our way. Possible military buildup?

1625 BC - (3)

We have Horeback riding. Going for Iron Working (second is the good old Great Library). Our poor scout is sort of trapped by barb units! Ack! Workers head over to Grand River to connect spices.

1600 BC - (4)

Barbarian Unit killed by an Elite Jaguar Warrior. Four warriors aiming for Niagra Falls. Rushed a mounted warrior there and in Salamanca (I think that's enough for now). Another jaguar warrior is getting a little too close to Allegheny.

1575 BC - (5)

A warrior attacks Niagara Falls and losses. Temple is built in Grand River. (Iron Working in 2 turns). Mounted Horsemen and Swordsmen. I kind of like that combination. Mounted horsemen attacks a warrior and wins! Golden Age!! Wow, this micromanagement thing is really neat! I just saved 4 gold (-1 vs -5) and increased production even more. 20 nice turns for production!

1550 BC - (6)

Nothing of Interest.

1525 BC - (7)

Warrior attacks Niagara Falls, and losses. Iron spotted 2 tiles east of Niagara Falls, and nearby Allegheny. Sped up warrior production from 3 turns to 1 turn. (Just in case that British warrior tries anything funny)

1500 BC - (8)

Salamanca's borders expand, and iron is within reach! The Aztecs are building the Oracle!

1475 BC - (9)

Grand River's borders expand.

1450 BC - (10)

Our treasury is getting low, but we get writing in one more turn. I'll leave this up to the next player.

And here's our empire with possible iron resources. :) Only one is within reach, and other with cultural expansion.
