Here is the signup thread for "the competitors" idea. There will be two teams. Both will have exactly the same starting locations. Both will have exactly the same map. Both will have exactly the same opponents. However, both will have incredibly different players :).

Monarch difficulty (unless enough players decide that it is too difficult)

rules:

No ROP rapings.
No automated workers
No long gotos
No wipping loophole abuse
No looking at the other teams game
There is an exploit that allows armys to be upgraded. It is NOT to be used.
There is a savegame hack that allows you to view the whole map, and change the AI's buildings. This is NOT to be used. Anyone who is found out will be BANNED FROM ALL GAMES THAT I CREATE and probably from all rbd games.

All public announcements will go in this thread. Both teams will start their own thread once teams have been finalised and games have been posted.

So who's in for the contest :D

24/48 rule
first player plays 20, second 15, then 10 turns each after that
between 4 and 6 in a team

Uh, where is the writeup for the competitiors rules?

Me too

I'd be interested in signing up. Depends on the diff level. Recently won my first regent game, even though I was the smallest civ hehehe. :D

Time to join the rbd bandwagon I say! :)

LK,

Check the RBD Succession Game Ideas thread. For Competitors, I think it's just a standard game (probably Monarch) but we have 2 teams of players competing to get a better score. Kind of like a mini-GOTM or Apolyton game, only as a succession game (and without the cheesy loophole exploitation.)

If you have some thoughts to flesh the idea out a bit, by all means speak up... :)

Currently playing in two games which are pretty much won, plus Sirian's RBD22, but should have no problems fitting this in.

Plus I'm pretty competitive in real life too. :)

I'd love to play, thou this will be my first SG, probably a competition game is not the best place to start but hey i'll give it a shot!:)

Well I am tempted to signup ;)

However, can we see an official post of the difficulity level.

If Monarchy, sign me up.

However, Emprorer is beyond my playing abilities.
If it goes that high, don't bother.

It sounds good to me, as I could use something to do until the next GOTM. Monarch would probably be a better difficulty for the two teams to play so that random AI actions in the early game have less of an effect on score. Another good question: how are we deciding who's on what team?

I will probably be in for this game, but this very moment is not the best timing. I've got a lot of irons in the fire, in and out of Civ, and need to take care of some of them. I'll check back in later, and if the game is ready to go before I am, then I'll wish you luck. :)

That is 9 confirmed, two unconfirmed (zed only posted, I don't know if he has any intentions of playing). Sirian will play if we start a bit later.

If any other rbders (potential or veteran) would like to join, now would be a good time to say so :).

Hmmm....

I played before in the one city challange.
Does that make me a RDB vet?

With 18 LK games, and who knows many others...
I know I am a vet player.

As far as I can see, there's nothing preventing a third or fourth instance of the game. IE, if there are lots of players, there could be more teams. Just a thought. :)

I would prefer Regent or Monarch diff. My first win on regent came as a diplo win as the smallest civ. The only experience I've had with monarch was gotm5. I did last to 810ad though. :)
