On mars already, waiting!
Can't wait for the finished Animations? here are some static (default) animations to use while you are waiting
The crocodile, T34/85, and machine gun infantry anre well on thier way to completion. but in the meantime here are 8 directional default flcs.

If you want to use them just create folders in your CivIII/ART/Units and put the flc and Ini files in them, they use sound from existing units so you won't need to include them.
The Infantry man is a bit patchy at the moment, having trouble with the Civ coloured jacket but be assured it will be fixed by the time I release the finished animation.

All the crocodile units go in a folder called Crocodile
the machine gun infantry files go in Machinegunners
the t34 files go in T34-85

Add these units to your scenarios and you have an amphibious tank, a machine gun version of the infantry, (you may want to use it in the old "Alpine infantry" role i.e. move one all terain as roads. And also there is the T34/85 an upgrade of the t34/76 that I have already posted. Mostly it is just there so you can preview all the angles and give me some feedback.

Your T34/85 looks great. Can't wait for the finished unit.

Yes the T34 was an early design I worked on. This version of the 34/85 is just a preview. I am soon going to start work on a full new version of the T34/85 modeled from scratch.

Im havn't decided on a colour scheme yet, check out Harlans CTP WWII units in the creation and customisation for a snow white colour with red writing, or a green and brown colour, like that of my KV2 tank.

:( I don't know how to add shadows! I think it is the program I use, Corel photopaint; It does something odd with the palette.
I have tried every thing, I use flics taken from firaxis animations so that I can compare sizes, And if I change any of the shadows, (cut and paste, sample colour with eye dropper and then fill, Iv'e tried everything!) the shadow disapears, dispite the fact that it is exactly the same colour, in the same position in the palette.
If I used one of the other paint editors it might work, but I'm not sure; Even in other peoples animations, people who use the other editors, the shadows flicker on and off occasionaly or don't quite work.

I could do black shadows like on the Elephant archer and other AoE/AoK units. That would be easy, and then if someone wanted to fill the shadows in with Alpha blending shadows would be welcome. I will make the shadows flat (all one colour), so that all it takes is one click per frame to fill it in.

Smoking Mirror,

Are you still planning to work on the T-34/85 or is the project dead? Just wondering...

I was just curious what 3-d program are you using? I finally figured out a good way to create shadowing with Rhinoceros and PSP 7. I'm not quite sure how much you know about the palette but the best information I have found about shadowing is in Moeniirs flicster thread, starting on page 2 with a reply by SWB titled "palette information".
What I do with shadowing is I render the unit, (with a magenta background), screencapture (the rendering usually has a shadow of one dark magenta color, sometimes two) and then load a palette which I think will best match the colors. This means (for instance my gray laser infantry I used the battleship palette) opening a .fxm file from a premade unit in flicster, which creates a .pal file, I then renamed that file (as greytones.pal) so I can use it for future grey (such a bad American, but I always just naturally spell it grey) gray units. Unfortunately, at least in PSP, but I am sure it applies to all paint programs, it is better to do this before any cutting and pasting is done with units on frames. The final step before pasting your units is to use the eyedropper to find out the numerical value of the rgb (usually something like 130, 0, 130), and then create a new color in the greytones palette (5 or 6 "blocks" away from the "frame seperating color" (flicster uses a lavender by default, I prefer 0, 255, 0 green) with the exact same rgb number (like 130, 0, 130). Then you can begin cutting and pasting your units onto the frames.
I cannot remember all the other problems with shadowing I ran into using other methods, but I do remember they were very frustrating... so I guess a synopsis would be, load the palette, with the shadow colors already determined, first.

I hope this helped. :)

Thanks Neomega- the whole shadow thing caused me real problems for quite a while with 3d units, but I finaly got it fixed in the end.
I cant belive I still havn't done a good t34/85! Oh well after the playthe world submisions are sent off I will get it done.

By the way neomega, I realy loved your Lazer infantry, the movements of the model were especialy good, I had real trouble the first time I tried to do a run animation (still have trouble now).
:)

yah I need to find me that famous capture motion pictures of a man running naked, I think it would help my run animations considerably. Right now I am building a laser tank, so the run will be simple, if i do one at all. Plus I like staring at naked mens buns... or wait was that women's? I need to watch more porn and figure it out.....

oh, it was womens buns I like. I still would like the capture motions though....

Oh jeez, I didn't realize the post about not being able to do shadows was dated May 11th...... oops.

Civanator - The Soviets had a similar (rip-off) version of the Thompson SMG.
I cant remember what its called though...

Smoking Mirror probably knows though.

Smoking Mirror - Thanks once again for your graphics work.

I wish I could make such beautiful units. Maybe someday, I'm trying to learn right now.

Here's your avatar sans background:

In PSP7, color tab, set transparancy to background color, then save.
If you view it in PSP7, it will appear to have a checker-board behind it.
