First go into your civ3\art\units directory and create a folder with the unit name you wish to use. Then unzip the file of your new unit into it. Next find the .ini file of your new unit and make sure the ini file name matches the folder name exactly.
Now go download the hacked civ3 edit from this site and install it. Run the editor. Load the bic file you want to customize. On the menu bar, click edit rules. Then click units. Click add and type the name of your new unit again making sure it matches your units folder and ini file name.
Give the units the stats you want then click on the close button.
Then click on file, then save.
so I have to put unit firepower, defence etc my self... Are there some default (or what the modeller recommend to set) settings for units in those files or somewhere?
ok, now when I run civ3edit.exe and open those .bic files... I found that there are many .bic files. One is the civ3mod.bic and the others are maps, like marla's world map. wichone I should take?
Well that would be personal preference. I only play on either marla's map or kitten of chaos's map. Both are excellent huge maps of the world. So I only have modified those two bics.
I think if you apply the changes to the civ3mod.bic the changes will be available for all your bic files. I don't actually know for sure though.
ok... I notice that there is somekind of file named unit_32 can I add those images to regular unit_32 file like unit panther. there is own unit_32 file (panther unit) and if I copy it to regular unit_32... is this ok or can it cause some problems?
OK now. Heres what you do. You have to put any new unit icons in between the privateer and the ancient ages leader. So in effect you have to move the last eight icons over 1 spot for every new icon you wish to place on the units_32.pcx file
