Special invitation to Zouave

Ok, so this is not exactly the place to invite someone but I am not sure if Zouave ever visit the Story & Tales section so here it is. :)

I intend to start a new Succession Game which will be modded (no adding of new units, just tweaking the bombardment, ship movement, air unit range etc ) and using the 1.21 patch. And I would like to invite Zouave to join me in this succession game. Anyone who is interested can sign-up as well. Once we get the optimum people the details can be agreed upon. It will be a Regent level game.

Why special invitation to Zouave? Because I believe he likes the game just like anyone of us and I am willing to play a SG with him to prove that he can be a team player as well! So, Zouave, don't disappoint me. :D
 
dont mean to sound dumb ... but what is a succsession game? ... but im keen if it is what i think it is (u play for like a 1000 years or something??) or even keen if it isnt

and i think that zouave has him PM disabled .... that is what i read somewhere

anyway ... count me in :)
 
What the hell is a Succession Game??

I will check my calendar; this is a busy time of year, lots of chicks to take out to see the blossoming flowers. They like that. :D

I've also gotten so irritated by Civ 3 I may need a break before I punch the PC screen. Who knows.
 
Ok, a succession game is where each player take 20 turns then past on to the next player. ;) As each player play their turns they can either write a short summary as to what happen during their turns or if they are creative enough they can even write a short story as to what happen. :D Of course they can also attach screen shot of their current game position on the map and indicate the possible cause for the next action to be taken.

What make a succession game so interesting is each player has his/her own style and the combination of 4-5 different style in a same game is what make it fun. I find that if you play enough succession game, you will really get addicted to it. :p

So, if Zouave agrees to join then we have 4 players so far. If everything is ok then I will post the suggested modding and if everyone agrees the game will begin within the next 2 days. :)
 
Not to be mean or anything, but that sounds incredibly boring. Play just 20 turns and then have to write a SUMMARY for it? Not worth it pal. I'm out.

edit .... i think there is something wrong with my keyboard ... damn thing keep typing the wrong letters :p

Heh. If you ever try some long turns you won't say that. ;)

I have engaged in a few SG that took me whole night (about 5 hrs) just to play 10 turns (sometime less). In fact, the general rules is towards the middle and end game one usually play 10 turns or less each because it become too intense to play a straight 20 turns. :cool:

To find out more about the SG, just go over to the Story & Tales section of the forum and read one or two of the threads there. You will be surprised about what you find there. :)
 
Yeah. In my first German SG, took 2 hours plus, just to play one turn. Crazy. :crazyeye:

The fun behind an SG is to be playing the same game with a few friends, and talking bout it. ;) You can learn a few new tricks; also spy on your future potential MP 'enemies'. :mwaha:

And the stories can be quite entertaining too. Depends on the effort and imagination of the poster. ;)
 
Well im intersted. I haven't ever played one, but im starting to get really bored with random games. I can hold my own (most the time in Regent) so if would like me to join in im there :)
 
IF I want a warmonger?? A good warmonger is always needed in a SG. ;)

Ok, we now have 6 players (including Zouave if he confirms) and invitation is now closed. :)

Maybe Killer can post the list of changes (ie. mod)? ;)
 
Changes:
Ancient tech except Monarchy and Republic + ~1/3 cost.
Max research time 50 turns.
Hills can be irrigated
Tundra gives no food
Resources give more bonus (now it`s worth fighting for them even if they aren`y strategic)
AI-AI trade is 100% on Regent, 110% on Monarch and so on.
HP tripled.
Bombard changed accordingly.
2 new cultural levels, 1 at 5:2, one at 3:2 so rate can be judged better.


We need to address anval warfare and bombard again, but I never got into that deeply enough to decide on what I wnated to do and how. Also, as long as subs can`t be made to choose what to try to attack i don´t think naval combat will ever be fun :(

Triple HP sounds a little too much to me...how about up veteran to 5 and Elite to 7 (Conscript and Regular remains unchange)?

And add bombardment for Infantry, Tank & Modern Armor (3 for Infantry, 8 for Tank & 12 for Modern Armor and range is only 1). This make defender stronger and harder to attack.

Lastly, you might want to consider giving HP bonus to each Era (Medival +1, Industrial +2, Modern +3).

And whats the opinion of others who want to join the SG? Make yourself heard, guys! (That includes Zouave ;) )

Triple is just to iron freak results out, I didn`t want to change the rate of elite/veteran or veteran/regular. But maybe we can double, the add 1 for elite??

conscript 4, regular 6, veteran 8, elite 11???

Bombard for defenders no thanks, when there`s 15 in a city they`re pretty hard to beat already, but for archers, tanks and related units it is fine with me.

bonus for era looks good, too often Longbowmen beat Riflemen (historically OK, but not for gameplay).

whaddaya think???
 
I`m also thinking about upping the carrying capability of Carriers to 8 or 10 units since defences are so strong now....
 
I am fine with your suggestions. The bombardment for Infantry is what I did in my own mod (old habits die hard :lol: ). All we need now is the feedback from other players.

The list of players are:

Maximum of 20 turns at the beginning, can be less.
No automation of workers, no long goto (meaning don't leave any units in goto mode when your turns end, goto of course is fine during your own turns ;) )
Level : Regent
Map : Large, Continents, 70% water, Normal, Temperate & 4 Billion years
No. of Civs : 12
Barbarians : Raging
Civ to play : ?? (we need to decide on this one as well :) )
 
I'm ok with the mod, although I'm not keen on very large HP. I kinda enjoy strange battle results (call me masochistic :p)

I always play random civs, so I have no preference on who we are
