I hope you don't find i take to much place with my thread in this forum , but i just want to make it more practical.

Well , as i am making more and more units , i've decided to put this post which will be updated each time i'll make a major advancement with my units. I will also make a complete list of units i am working on. Several are taken from the "units request thread" and some are personal ones.
Enjoy! -Reno- Womoks -

I just wanted to say how G R E A T your work is!!!! :D and ask you when the first units will be available in FLC format?

Absolutely F A B U L O U S work! I'm looking forward to putting these graphics into my game!

Great units! (especially the future ones)

I might do a Mod with em (and do some futuristic units myself, if I can take my time and be better at 3D studio Max...)

And I will use your jeep in my WW2 mod!

Nice indeed!

my god those are beautiful.. can't wait for that partisan!!!

can you give a estimated release date for any of them? I'm dying in anticipation

WOMOCKS give me a link
i cant wait (it is a sentence well employed here)
Here it is really true

I will jump by my window if I cant get your creations.
Tell us you will release one unit...:goodjob:

Modern marine and hover tank are the best waited for me....

Maybe you could release the defaults animations...

These are absolutely incredible!:goodjob:

Well its hard to say anything that hasn't already been said so... 5 dollars! anyways looks excellent and can't wait to get a hold of these little buggers.

You seem to be working on too many units at the same time.

I think he suffers from the same thing I do... ;)

If I work on one thing to much I get bored. So I start a new project, then if I get bored I might go back to the other, etc.

Or not...

Hey, Womoks. Just a thought, does the Trebuchet need a fortify flc? What's it gonna do if it's attacked, hurl a big rock at something 40 miles away? Maybe for the fortify you could use part of the attack flc and just have it cock back, ready to hurl! (hey I like that, maybe that could be their motto: Trebuchet commandos, Ready to hurl!) Anyway just some suggestions that might get that trebuchet ready for downloading....:D :D :D

Well I'm dying to get those sci-fi units! How many completed civ3 scfi-fi units are there? 4?

My god- how many are you creating at a time- truelly amazing at what pace U r doing these (and all so nice) WOW !!!

I hope U get enough sleep :goodjob: ...

One question: I'd really like to start on modeling in 3d- could you give me a hint on the programs i should start with (freeware- me iz poor student:rolleyes: ), and perhaps some basic advice  ?

Fantastical, obviously the work of a pro.

Do you work with much larger original frames and then shrink them down? I ask this because I've found it incredibly difficult to freehand draw any changes to the existing units that actually look good. By the time the pixels are large enough to work with, I cant make out the figure to actually draw what I want accurately?

PS dont let answering these posts slow down your work ;)

For spencer H;
making any freehand animation is very timeconsuming and difficult, even for a pro. Most people use 3D programs, most of which feature special effects and animations. I have a 3D program that apart form fairly good lighting doesn't feature any effects or any animation features. Despite this fact I still do almost no freehand animation, it just take too damned long. The best thing to do is try to get images from other programs or screen captures from films etc.
If you are serious about freehand animation of people get a friend to pose in the stances you want and then photograph them, scan the pictures and then resample them to the size of civ III units. For free hand drawing, draw it on paper and scan it in. It is much eaiser than drawing with a mouse, or even a computer pen (I have one myself, and find it not to be all that usefull).
If you want to change the existing units, resample them to about 1000% with anti ailiasing (edge smoothing), make the changes, and then reduce the size to about 10% Without anti ailiasing. You will have a smooth new graphic that looks like it is all the work of one person, and it will have very little mess round the edge.

Thanks for those points. I have animation shop 3 and PSP7. Its not so much freehand drawing new units so much as altering the existing ones. For example drawing a kilt on an rifleman. It's very time consuming and still looks like crap by the end. I'll play with the aliasing as you suggest and see what comes of it.

Hey Womoks! I know some of your units have civ colours, but which ones?
I am realy waiting with baited breath for the partisan and jeep, but if they don't have civ colours I may just have to put them on myself!:)
I asume that all the pictures with blue on them are civ coloured units (most often the default civ colour is blue, because the other colours are browns greens and greys, and if you render in red, it can clash with the shadows) If this is the case it means that the partisan dosn't have civ colours! :(
I know that most people would use the partisan as a colourless unit (like the privateer), but It would be nice to have the option of using him (or her?) in other roles. Remember if it is a colourless unit the civ colour will show up in the game as white, so you could perhaps make the leg covering civ coloured.
