The Civilization 3 Expansion is on it's way!

It will include eight new civilizations and leaders along with a number of new single- and multiplayer scenarios and features. In addition, it will include a new "turnless" online mode and other improvements.

Read about it here;

good :) , when it is going out to release?
Also i hope the "turnless" online mode it will look more like europa universalis, that the days go and go and the buildings and military units are built like for example: ( 1 MONTH LEFT TO FINISH THE INFANTRY UNIT, ect)

lol thunderfall i challenge you to a multiplayer game when the online game is released to sales :)

I just can't wait, I hope Infogrames doesn't know I would pay half my money in the bank for it! :D

Well, who do you think will be the 8 civilizations?

My guess are:

- The Vikings.
- Spain.
- Inca.
- The Mongols.

These are my best guesses...

Ohh I'm longing!

It looks nice but I'm not spending $20 on it. Much rather go out and buy Neverwinter Nights or Allied Assault.

8 new civs sounds fantastic.

I hope multiplayer includes hotseat. That would really bum my wife and me out if it didn't. I would have no reason to get the XP then.

It would be nice if Firaxis decided to add a few more units (3 or 4, maybe 5), but it doesn't sound like that's in the making.

And, of course, I sincerely hope that the editor is a full fledged, fully functional, game editing maniac machine --including, of course, full scenario support. It would be very sad if the XP did not include it.

That's it. It is good news, though I can already here the moaning from the "we aren't paying extra for what we should have had from the start" people. Oh well.

If it was only multiplayer I would give more thought to buying but all that other stuff washes away the doubt. Is there any release date yet?

If there are new Civs, there better be at least two near-east ones, liek the Saracenes and some Arabian-Penisular ones or so!

If anything in Civ3 is 'odd', it`s including both Persia and Babylon, but keeping all Muslin Nations out!

good stuff. *mumbles under breath*....stll think MP should have been released as a free update though....

however, couple of questions:

1/ played plenty of the other 2 civ games, but never played MP. how does it work? do the games go on for long? is it usual for a game to be played in more than one sitting? any info appreciated.

2/ does anyone know exactly what "turnless" means? (don't just say "a game with no turns" ;) )

thnx in advance

and listen all (stand up Grey Fox ;) ), try and contain your excitement - remember, we want to keep the price down!!

Awesome. I was wondering when they would get around to announcing an expansion pack. Now we just have to wait a few months for them to finish. :)

I hope the new scenarios are like the ones from the XPs for Civ 2, fantasy and WWII, etc. BTW, if they include scenarios, then that means they'll probably have to make a full-fledged scenario editor to do it with. Though I'd be willing to pay for such an editor in the XP, it would be nice if they could release another patched editor that includes a few more features for those of us too anxious to wait...:)

I'm definitely looking forward to this!

If the scenarios are like those in Civ2 then we can probably expect new units. Hard to have a fantasy or SciFi mod only using the current animations.

I see loads of possibilities here for additions to the DyP mod. :D

Paying for multiplayer.... that's nice. Wheeeee!

Alright, we have to remember Firaxis is going to try to keep sort of a balance in terms of cultural regions (mediterranean, Asian, Middle East, American, european)
Here's who they will be *ahem*
1. Spain (Europe)
2. Mongols(Asia)
3. Vikings (Europe)
4. Carthage (Mediterranean)
5. Inca (America)
6. Arabs (middle East)
These ones I feel are shoe-ins, based on the Civ 2 Precedent (including Civ 2 text files). There also can't be any more Euro civs, due to their being more than any other culture region in the game already. There won't be more than 2 in the XP.
The last two slots are open to a number of possibilities
Turks (Mediterranean)
Hebrews (middle east)
Ethiopians/Aksumites (Middle east)
Mayans (america)
Koreans (asia)

Now which 2 out of those 5 are chosen is very difficult to say. Your guess is as good as mine.
