I was thinking it was time for me to start me own SG. Anyway since variants seem alot more fun than regular SGs I decided to make some sort of one.

The idea is that we are fanatics. We adore our god/gods and we hate all non believers. We also hate science because it is against our beliefs on the world.

Here are the rules:

-We must build temple, cathedral, and colleseum in all productive cities. No scienctific improvements, such as libary or any science wonders, such as Newtons.

-We love our religious improvements, and they are top priority to be built. If we fail to get a religious wonder we declare war on those who got it and first thing to do is to take the city with the wonder. We believe that others will destroy the magnificence of the wonder.

-Although we hate science , we will reseach science up to 50 %, no more. We build no science improvements or wonders. But when we are reseaching relgion related techs we may increase the research.

-I realize that will be a problem in keeping up with techs, and with no GL either but we should be accumulating alot of money because we are spending little on science reseach and should be able to buy stuff off. The rest we force over through war.

-We stay in despotism and then allowed to switch to monarchy. Maybe republic, I'll think about that, definetely not democracy, too much freedom and open thought.

-Religious wonders, are top priority, and if there is a choice, for ex: between Sistines and Sun Tzu we build Sistine in the more productive city and Sun Tzu somewhere else.

-Since there are no religions in Civ 3, we believe in destroying all non-believers in our super duper religion, we will war against the weakest culture bordering us. We don't have to war asap, but when we feel like they are not good followers we conquer.

-We also like to sacrfice. Captured workers can be used to sacrfice to make units and such. We whip caputered cities w/o any mercy after fortifying them with 1 or 2 units.

There will probably be more, but I'll take suggestions and stuff.

Some more stuff thanks to ChrTh: We will put science at 100% when going for religion related tech. We will also raze all cities with scientific wonders.

Some more stuff: Into the Industrial times we will immediately declare war on all communist civs. There is nothing in the world we hate more than those communists other than Einstien or Newton :D!

Parameters
I'm thinking we play as either Aztecs, or Japan. The civ has to be religious, and i chose those 2 since we will be in alot of war and they have the aggressive tendencies that we want.

The level will probably be regent. I though maybe monarch, but it would be a bit hard since we would really fall behind in techs. Warlord is too low unless alot of people want it like that.

STANDARD map, 8 random civs, continents or pangea, wet warm, 5 billion years. Civ Japan or Aztec most likely.

Anyway like to hear some suggestions and all.

Current Roster:
Me,
Sealman
Ming
????
????
ChrTh

The order will be fixed later but at the moment ChrTh is last as he requested.
1or 2 more people.

I agree that Monarch would be nigh-impossible with the 50% science limit. It would be an interesting challenge--at Regent. I think there should be an exception though: We must research any Religious Tech (Mysticism, Polytheism, Monotheism, Theology) as soon as we can...and we MUST have Science at 100% while researching. (When you think about, Scientists don't 'discovery' polytheism et al...so it wouldn't negate the anti-science standpoint)

The only issue I see is that after the Middle Ages, there really aren't any wonders for us to build...I think we should be allowed time to destroy the pagan civilizations (i.e. we shouldn't have to immediately declare war if somebody else finishes something first).
Sign me up, but put me last in the rotation, because I'm out of town next week for training, and I don't know what kind of access I'm going to have (although I do plan on having a Laptop loaded with Civ 3 with me :) )

In terms of Government, Monarchy sounds fine. Democracy is out, and Communism is Godless. Maybe we should require that we can not ally with Democracies or Communists?

Another wrinkle: if we defeat a city with a 'Scientific' Wonder, we have to raze/abandon it :)

Nice ideas ChrTh. I like the idea of 100% science on those religion related techs. Definetely raze scientific wonders.

I think i'll have 5-6 players. I'll both of you in.

It might be a while before we start getting all the things and restrictions and all straight so I don't think you should miss too much.

Oh forgot, 1.21 patch. With 1.17 we would be really screwed in the tech race.

I'm a newbie to the Succession games. I'd like to jump in on this game if there's a free space. I normally play at the regent level. I've played at higher levels with varying levels of success.

Ming.

Okay, you're in.

It will be most likely regent.

Even large maps? It will most likely be a large map but standard is possible.

If other people want standard, then I'll change it.

Standard might be a better idea. I know I have problems on large maps once you get close to the end-game (1700s+)...large maps also take longer, and for that reason aren't as popular in SGs (no one wants to play the same SG for over five months)

I've seen some games on large maps. Like most of the LK ones.

But anyway, I don't mind. I'll change it to standard. Large maps are slow on my computer later in the game but I don't mind.

So Exsanguination, do you want to play? Its standard map.

Ok I'll put you in. I'm thinking of starting tommorrow. Unless somebody else wants in, we'll go with this:

Standard Map,
Larger Continents,
Japan or Aztecs,
Wet warm, 5 billion years.
8 random civs.

I flipped a coin, and it was Japan. Our leaders name is Mikado, which IIRC is Japanese name for emperor. I had been using that name for another game of my own as Japanese and I didn't change it. Oh well.

The important info: I didn't include some dates because nothing happened in them. Our starting posistion is awesome.

4000 BC: Kyoto is established. Its a great location. Cattle and wheat nearby. We start to reseach Mysticism for the Oracle. Warrior started.
3950: Start to mine a bonus grassland.
3750: Warrior finshed. Starts to explore.
3650: Mine completed, moved to cattle square which will be ours in a turn or two.
3550: Another warrior completed. Start barracks, then settler. We open a goody hut but non-believers of Shagain or something threaten us. We will persecute the pagans. Die!!
3500: Victory is ours. Are great warrior is an elite and continues his journey with NO DAMAGE at all! Culture expands.
3350: Another goody hut. The tartar tribe gives us 25 gold. We decide to be easy on them and do not burn their pagan village. Barracks completed, Settler started. Turn 14
3100: The Sakae tribe hands us pottery in exchange for their lives. We agree.
3050: Some more exploring. We approach a pink colored civ. Maybe France.

Nice starting location. Kyoto is going to be a Wonder factory w/ all those shielded grasslands.

Shouldn't Mysticism be cranked to 100%?

i wasn't sure about that. We are only making 1 gpt so we would lose money.

The starting location is one of the best I have ever seen. And the area around it is good too, alot of grasslands, plains and forest.

Ming do you want to pick this one up?

Let's give Sealman 24 hours for the "Got it". If he doesn't show up tomorrow, I'll grab and play it tomorrow evening.

As long as we're at it though. What are the got it/post it rules and # of turns allowed. I'm assuming 24 to grab it, 72 to post results and 10 turns per.
