Well, I feel I owe you all an apology. I should've posted this sooner. The Civ1 GOTM will no longer continue. Here are the reasons why:

1) Lack of submissions. I figured that since the games only take a short time, that more people would submit, I was wrong and we never cracked 10 :(

2) Bad timing. If people would put down Civ3 for 5 minutes it might've had a shot.

3) Lazy operator. Yep, that's me, I was lazy and never advertised or hit my own deadlines.

I did have fun and it was a humbling experience for me as well as a good learning experience. Perhaps some day the GOTM will be started again, but until then, just say goodbye to it. This just wasn't it's time.

Here are some links to the short history of the Civ1 GOTM:

And like I said, it may come back, but I will be better prepared and more things will be planned if it does :) Planning is key!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything, send me an e-mail using the fora's e-mail function or pm me. :)

That's just too bad. Anyway I'm still quite curious who played and how well they did. Are you going to post scores of the first two?
If not can you just mail the saved games to somebody who will want to finish the games and post the scores?
I'm willing to do this for the winciv files (I don't own the DOS version)

OK. We can do something about this...

I'd be prepared to organise the Civ1 GOTM provided we do it my way (!) and we do it for Civ1 for DOS (as I don't have WinCiv). By my way I mean I set up all the rules and scorings up front, including early finish bonuses, I choose the starting positions, we do it once a month and only once a month, and I post ALL the results at the start of the next month. Very much like Civ2 GOTM actually.

If we get 10 people who are prepared to accept that and to enter, I'll do it. Write your names below.

And I get to enter too. So that's one.

Yes, please make a small list of the GOTM results. It wouldn´t be much work since less than 30 played the 3 GOTMs so please.
:D

I would most certainly be interested in the GOTM for the DOS based civ1. However, I do not own WinCiv.

I should play the GotM, when there comes a new one.

I have both the Dos and Windows edition. But I am a DOS-Player. I played the game in DOS in the past.
I love the Simplistic Graphics.

I am a "game-player".
