The turn chat for the starting year of 1230 AD is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 11:59 pm Greenwich time. (Not sure if it is GMT or GST. ) That's 6:59 pm in the eastern US time zone.:)

Here is the turn chat 1130 AD (June 2) thread.

Here is the save to be used: phoenatica1230.zip

We have entered the industrial ages behind both the Greeks and Iroquois. Our treasury has recovered to over 1300 gold thanks to our recent trade agreements with England and the Iroquois. Our economic picture will brighten further with the completion of Smith's Trading Co. on two turns and our Forbidden Palace the turn after that. Our fifth bank will be open soon after that and then Wall St. can be built.
Our defenses need attention. While we can now buy rifles for our troops we are still defended by pikemen and musketmen. (A couple spearmen, too!) Most of our mounted units are knights - we have but one cavalry regiment. Our navy consists of one or two ships. On the bright side, we have started building a military academy!
In our recent push to construct great wonders CAP has fallen by the way-side which has resulted in the loss of the gems near Tlaxcala to the Greeks. Chondote still has no Phoenatican culture!
The challenges that face us now are: the continued improvement of our economy, a techological lead over other countries, the modernization of our armed forces, the construction of a navy and the expansion of our cultural borders!

Chondote was changed to Library, if I had a budget I would of rushed it then.

Just follow the queue ;)

Domestic Department:

Switch PDX to Palace (prebuild for factory) if the governor agrees.

Science: 60%
Taxes: 40%

Feel free to optimize this during the turns, if the science turns will not be affected.

Budgets: Foreign Affairs: 84 gold for an embassy in England
The rest should remain in savings for the time being.

Istar

Fox's Nest: Smith's, Wall Street
Eyr: Cathedral, University
Khatovar: Cathedral, University
Chie: Cavalry, Rifleman, Rifelman
Malinalco: Harbor, Market(or bank)
Lutetia: Cathedral, Granary
Asyut: University, Granary

The Province of Kashmir

As of now the build queues are:

Tlaxcala - walls, granary, university
Heliopolis - temple, granary, university
Alexandria - aqueduct , university, market

It doesn't look like any CAP funds are available, but if this changes, feel free to change any queue to an improvemnt of your choice to rush it.

I don't know if it's just me, but I can't download that save. I've been trying since yesterday, and I'm never able to even connect. As many of you know Justus is not going to be around much for a couple weeks, so this presents a bit of a problem, as I'm supposed to be doing CUltural Updates and instructions in his stead.

I shall start soon, what do you want me to do, I'll give you some suggestions later.

Well, mainly the Cultural Report is to model Justus' reports. As for recomendations, it would essentially be anything that you recommend :) i.e., cities that have no cultural buildings, cities whose borders are being impinged upon by other civs, etc. Anything you think we should do that is related to culture.

PB, I'll get one of those soon, now for the turn chat, note, in rushing I did not include colliseums, since I believe those to be wastes of time as of now. If I had to choose between Universities and Cathedrals I chose Universities and listed rush costs. Here it goes:
Rush:University Where: Tlaxcala Cost"336 Notes: Very costly, but needed to secure gems, involves queue change, perfectly legal
Rush: Library Where:Chondote Cost:112 Notes, no culture city
Rush:Temple Where:Heliopolis Cost: 164 Notes: I deem it to be low priority, you decide further
Rush:University Where:Justinian Cost:288 Notes, queue change, perfectly legal
Rush University Where: Asyut Cost: 64 Notes, 3 turns until built, not really neccesary
Rush:Cath WHere: Macao, Cost 304 Notes:too costly
Rush: University: Where: Alexandria Notes: needs queue change, legal, too costly
Rush: Temple: Where: San Francisco Cost: 112 Notes: should be low priority.

Rush: UniversityL Where: New York Cost: 256 Notes: not sure if queue change neccesary, you decide whether to or not PB Now I'm off to do a Justus type report

Move Musket in Philidelphia to Thebes.

Disband the two Spearmen.

Where are the governors?

PB, whenever you get here, please ask for about 112, this is enough tor ush a library in Chondote, or wait and rush that university in Tlaxcala, I'd say those are high priority, but you can decide.

Having looked at the saved game, it appears that nothing will be completed before the FP, and if we're having the proposed short turn chat tonight then there's no point in my posting any changes at this point. So I guess this post is rather pointless. Spamtastic! :D

Foreign Affairs

For all proposals, I am interested in the attitude change of the Foreign Leader.

Turn 0
Establish Embassy with England. This was approved by the domestic leader in the budget. Should be 84 gold.

Turn 2
Gift India and the Iroquois with 2 gpt each.
Edit: The Domestic Dept has notified me that 2gpt gifts may be impossible because we are running a deficit.
In this case, you may delay the deal until such time that our budget is in surplus. I hope that with the addition of the Forbidden Palace in turn 4(?) that we may be able to afford this.

Turn 5
Rome:
ROP expires. Renegotiate. Go for 5 gold or less from them with the ROP. If they will not take, straight deal ok.

Greece - able partner:
ROP expires. Try not to renegotiate. If they call us on it, go through same procedure as Rome.

Turn X
China and the Aztecs are broke again. We can renegotiate peace but can not gain much. Let it slide unless great opportunity arises.

Edit: Being the last post on the first page in my browser, I thought I would put a reminder for the player to open page 2 as well, in case they are set up similarly.
