Should we trade medicine to either the Babylonians or the Indians?

They both offer two techs (communism and corporation) as well as about 7gpt and about 70-100 gold.

I believe we should, but am not set on that opinion. There are very good reasons not too.

Please discuss.

Great gains and probably little loss. How do we even know they will research Scientific Method next, and if they do it does take time, at least four turns, by which time we should have been preuilding for a long time, so we should.

I am pretty sure that they will research scientific method first, or at least one of them will. It should also be noted that the turn after we trade medicine it is likely that most civs will have it. However, we will still have gotten a jump on them, and should still be able to complete the TOE first. After this, Hoover is easy.:)

Can we sell medicine to all civs that want it? If we sell it to one does the price drop? Obviously we can't get both communism and corporation from both India and Babylon but could we get anything else?

The problem is, they are probably all quite broke.

I'm abstaining from this untli the issue at hand is solved. :)

I do not think it is good for our country if our trade leader abstains from discussing possible trades. Will you please reconsider this Chieftess?

Fox Nest now makes 21 shields/turn. Its factory will be done in two turns raising its production level to 30 or 31 s/t. Since theory of evolution costs 300 shields it will take 20 turns to build it after the factory is done (22 turns from now).

Bangalore (128 gold to investigate), Bapedi (154 gold) , Uruk (188 gold), Pharsalos (134 gold) and Oil Springs (102 gold) are all working on universal suffrage. We will be done with universal suffrage in 8 turns and if India, Zululand, Babylon, Greece or the Iroquois get scientific method withing these 8 turns then they will cascade to theory of evolution thus jeopardizing that project and also Hoover by implication.

Wouldn't we be better off keeping medicine a secret in an effort to nip the wonder cascade in the bud?

Exactly, these are the kind of things we need to consider before jumping into a tech trade. That is the argument I hoped everyone to here before we decided on this.

I think the PI#6 should be decided first. If it goes for the trade, then this thread is useless.

The vote in the chat was simply to trade medicine. Regardless of what the outcome of that is, a discussion of which trade to make (and even whether any should be made at all) is not useless.

Then maybe the topic should have been made clearer.. But, there was a priority list in the turn chat....

I am opposed to trading Medicine. If we are going to divert ourselves by pursuing Universal Suffrage in addition to ToE and Hoover, then the few turns we will gain here as an advantage are worth it.

Should we get Sanitation first later, then I would be willing to deal that for great profit.

Sanitation is not in the current science queue. The science queue was voted by the citizens, thus can only be changed by the citizens. If you have any objections please post it in the science proposal thread.

I agree with CT, this thread should be closed till PI #6 is completed. It should have never been posted.

We do have a country to run. I intend to continue doing my job until such a time as the citizens call for the game to halt to conduct this ludicrous and hypocritical investigation.

If you do not remember this is not real life. We are not really running a whole country. This is just a game, nothing to get touchy or mad over. Fun, that's all it's about.

What does PI 6 have to do with anything in this thread??

I think that even if donsig is found guilty of anything, it has no bearing now on the trade, this matter should have been put to the citizens all along.

Exactly. While I disagree with you about the trade, as I think it would actually increase our tech lead, this matter must be discussed on the forums where all can post their opinions.
