Turn chat 1385 AD (June 20)

We have 8 cities connected to Fox Nest via rail now that the Fox Nest & Eyr RR has merged with the PDX, Pherris & Philadelphia RR. The K&A RR (Kashmir and Asphinxia RR) now connects Thebes to 4 cities. It has been decided that these two great trunk lines will form the National Railway System when their tracks join somewhere in the desert between Malinalco and Anyang.
This juntion cannot come too soon as Greece seems to be getting the upper hand in the war against the Iroquois. Hiawatha has already come to us for help. We have turned him down but the time may come when we are drawn into this war. We must be vigilant...
We are about 20 years away from granting universal suffrage! In 30 years our military academy will be finished while the formulation of a new theory of evolution is 80 years away. The ironworks in Civanatoria is 90 years away.
The last 20 years saw the opening of four new universities in Phoenatica!

Please do not use this as a discussion thread! Leaders and governors should now be posting their turn chat instructions here!

Instructions from the President's office:

Continue work on the National Railway System (NRS). The Malinalco-Anyang-Callisto-Memphis line and the Macao-Thebes lines have priority.
Once the trunk line of the NRS is complete, our elite immortals are to be put on a special trains to Thebes and Fox Nest for duty as honor guard in those cities.

One note. Thank you donsig for your synopsis of the current situation. It is exactly what I needed to help keep up with the game when not in a chat. I know it takes extra time, and I appreciate the efforts.

Fox's Nest: Theory of Evolution
Eyr: Factory
Khatovar: Factory
Malinalco: Factory
Asyut: Aqueduct
Lutetia: Cathedral
Chie: Factory

Give Fox's Nest Access to one of the mined squares between it and Eyr to lower construction time of TOE to 15 turns.

Science: 70%
Taxes: 30%

Budget: Since no requests have been entered, I would like to save the money we make this turn to upgrade all of our riflemen to infantry at a cost of 20gold each.

If needed, please allocate 200-250 gold to the cultural department once the funds over 1000 gold become available.

As of now the build queues are:

Cyrus - granary, aqueduct, marketplace
Heliopolis - granary, cathedral, bank
Alexandria - marketplace, granary, cathedral

All citizens are working the correct tiles throughout the province.

Once again, I will request that the worker building RR track west of Cyrus move SE to the other irrigated plain when he is done. There he can build another track before heading west for road work.

Filling in for SKILORD as Deputy Minister for the Domestic Department, I am posting the build queue for Chondote:

temple, granary, marketplace.

The citizen working the single food sea tile, can be moved to the tile where the workers are building RR track. When they are finished, Chondote may get an extra food source.

Filling in for SKILORD as the Governor of New Cormyr, I am posting the following build queues:

Justinian - temple, granary, aqueduct
Macao - university, granary, marketplace
Plexia - granary, marketplace, university

All citizens appear to be working the correct tiles throughout the Province.

Macao does need some irrigation in the grasslands, if at all possible.

Trade Department -

Besides the trades being discussed in the Replacable Parts thread, there are no really viable trades at this point. Nations are either broke, or at war.

The only one being:

Rome - Horses for 30 gold upfront, 8 gpt (up to 10 gpt)

or

They will offer 30 gold, 10gpt, and a world map for any of our techs (including communism).

Turn 0
Rome - Gift 30 gold

Greece - Recommend lifting the Ivory deal with them based on their continued aggression towards Iroquois.

Iroquois Gift 30 gold
Recommend lifting the 25 gpt dyes deal with them so they can better fund their war effort.

CP: That has the approval of the Trade Department. It's much better than MPPs, which could utterly disrupt the balance of power in the region.

Thanks to the quick action of our Domestic Department, the build queues have been changed to allow for a resumption of the CAP. The culture department has requested budget authority to rush the Temple in Justinian, once it builds at least one turn. I had also requested to rush a library in Paville, but as of now the queue has not been changed, so I would instead recommend that the temple in Chondote is rushed, as that queue has been changed. This can be done immediately, as the cost only decreases 4gpt. This would cost approximately 232, and the temple in justinian will be around 200 as well, depending on how many turns we wait. It is more productive, and might be worth waiting until the last turn of the chat.

Two other projects, Universities in Macao and San Francisco, are also on our "wish list", but are more expensive, and can wait until the next chat, to see how our finances look then.

Edit: I may or may not be at the chat tonight, we have company coming over, and I don't know if they plan on staying long. (Actually some of my wife's friends, so even if they stay, if I can gracefully exit the conversation, I will try to be here!) ;)

No changes to build queues this turn.

When harbor in Anyang is completed, please move one labourer from hills to water tile

Possibility:

Iro.

Renegotiate spice, incense -

Replacable Parts --> spices, incense, and (895 up front, OR Sci. Meth.)

BTW, there's a t-storm coming into my area, so I might be a little late to the turn chat.

I agree with Eyrei's plan, use the Mil. Dept.'s money to upgrade our Riflemen.

Summary
The War Widens!

The Iroquois allied with the Chinese against the Greeks. Then in a move reminiscant of the ancient Domino War, China alllied with Rome against Greece! Five countries were now involved in the Iroquios-Greek war. Greece and India against the Iroquois and China, with Rome at war with Greece. While not involved formally, Phoenatica did halt ivory exports to Greece.
Philadelphia continued to recruit workers for the NEP. The President called a cabinet vote during the chat to halt Philadelphia's produciton of NEP workers before the city disappeared! The cabnet members present approved the building of a granary in Philadelphia. The absence of certain governors was the cause of much constitutional debate. Builds in Justinian, Paville and Chondote were finally over-ridden by the Culture Ministry. The domestic leader allocated CAP funds for rushing the new projects in Paville (library) and Chondote (temple). Elephantine also opened its university while a cathedral was completed in New Falcon's Haven. 1365 also saw the upgrade of our last musktmen unit to riflemen. Two importand links were made in the National Railway System. The Fox Nest to Seattle line was completed as was the Justinian to Abydos line.
In 1370 Hiawatha and Gandhi smoked the peace pipe as the former declared, "We will fight no more for we are all Indians!" There was no peace on the other front. Chinese riders beat back Greek forces near Cumae and inside Iroquoisland while Roman knights sacked Rhodes and burned it to the ground! In light of this shocking event we renegotiated out trade deals with the Iroquois. We end up continuing our exports of incense, spices and dyes to Iroquoisland and in addition paid Hiawatha 575 gold for the secret of replaceable parts. immediately upon gaining this secret our domestic leader allocated funds for General Falcon's modernization plans and 17 riflemen units were ulgraded to infantry. Shortly thereafter Babylon also declared war on Greece as an ally of China. The University of Memphis opened in 1375 AD.
Five years later, President donsig went on a whistle-stop tour of the country on the new NRS. At a stop in PDX the President granted all citizens the right to vote irregardless of their ip address. (Some say this was an attempt to sway certain recent investigations but the President denied this charge, noting that he was found guilting any way by a hung jury.) In honor of the President's recent emaciation proclamation two American workers were allowed to settle in Philadelphia.
Our scientists leaned much about sanitation in 1385. Our military academy will open in five years while theory of evolution will be ready in 40 years. No one else is working on this important theory...
