What would be your favourite all time civ and why.

Mine has to be the Russians. They are scientific, which is great cos it means you have a free tech every era and cheaper scientific buildings. This frees up your time to creat cultural buildings thus standing a good chance at cultural victory. Due to the scientific advantage you also stand a better chance at being able to build the UN headquarters and win by diplomatic means.

Another factor is the special unit:- the cossack. It comes at the best time in the game. Not too early to become useless quick but not too late to have been of no use. For example, if you play as the americans you have to do well with normal units until late in the game (and u get the mig).If u dont do well early on it will be too late to make an impact. The cossack is fast, Strong and lasts a long time.

Orverall a very powerful civ

Ok....what have I started!?

romans and persians.

Rome because i like the militaristic feature. I also enjoy using the legonaries, they are very powerfull attack tools that are almost impossible to counter attack against.

Persia because the immortals are literally unstoppable. Also, the indoustriou factor adds to the deadlyness (sp?) of the immortals. make a road to you opponents territory, then send in the immortals!

Chinese

industrious AND militaristic. can it be better?

Everyone knows that the Persians are the most lethal in the game - Sci and Ind and Immortals. So I tend not to use them, since the game is too easy otherwise. Lately I've found non-industrious civs harder to play with, since I use captured workers to lay roads for my armies.

Sioux. Religious allows u to be democracy in times of peace and switch to communism in times of war. Mounted warriors can whoop even Immortals since Immortals only have two def and the Mounted Warriors can always attack w/ 2 movement.

Expansionist is always useful in pangea or continental maps.

What ever the SG im playing at the time decides on :)

As for my personal games .. Random (though more often then not i get the zulu's for some weird reason  ) and i've gotten pretty leathel with them now.

What do you guys think of the greeks.im thinking of starting a game with them simply cos of their reputation in the real world.

The American combination of early benefits from Expansionist (scouts and goody huts) and late benefits from Industrious (railroading the entire continent in a few turns) make up for the useless UU. By the way, the Americans should actually be Commercial and Industrious to be accurate.

Really Killer? Babylon is ANNOYING!

I like da JAPS because they're religious, which stops anarchy, and militaristic, which helps you whip the other civs ASSES.

BTW, Samurai RULE!

Don't know if I have a favorite civ, but I like to play civs that have one of these three traits:

1) Industrious--if you're a player that manages your own workforce, fast workers are a huge advantage over the AI.

2) Religious--cheap temples and cathedrals, no anarchy switching governments.

3) Militaristic--great trait to get your units to elite, and war becomes a way of generating GLs and using those GLs to build infrastructure and wonders. You can save, literally, thousands of shields through the course of a game.

Dunno exactly why, but i LOVE the Egyptians... I guess because of their strong trades like industrious and religious, i never seem to fail to do a good campaign with these sfinx-loving peoples:egypt:

The way I see it (might be wrong) the Greeks have the best advantage in tech. They have Scientific, and their Commercial gives them more revenue to be spent (once again) on tech.

The Babylonians are fine... except Hamurabi has a huge scalp problem after the Middle Ages... :D but probably not as huge as Joan's.

The Jap Samurai is great too. But I'm not very warlike in my games.
