Should we plant a spy in China?

This is a poll to determine if the Foreign Affairs Dept. should attempt to plant a spy in China. With a majority "yes" vote, FA will attempt to plant the spy here. With a tie or majority "no" vote, FA will not attempt to plant the spy. If circumstances or sentiment changes, or sufficient time has passed, FA may poll again. The polls will run up to the next Turn Chat on July 20.

FA will attempt to plant spies in the following fashion:
- Gather Approved spy list (greater than 50% support necessary).
- Attempt a single spy plant in one nation with the one attempt coming every 2 turns.
- Order of spy plants will be from the highest support from the polls to the lowest.

May I remind the risks of planting spies:
Target civ declaring war.
Total cost in gold (added up by every spy we plant).
Damaged reputation with the target civ.

May I remind the benefits:
Exact troop information.
Space Ship progress.
Other Espionage missions.

China Facts:
Cost: 70 gold
We are at War with them currently.
They are a suspect nation.
They are backwards in tech. I can't tell exactly, because they will not acknowledge our envoy. I think they are somewhere around Industrialization.

Well, in terms of the risks, we have alot of gold, we are already at war and they hate us like nothing else, so what are the REAL risks??

I would have said yes, but they're so weak (look at the power in the game - F7 or one of those keys). They also have cavalry and 1 rifleman at our borders, and just finished a war with the Aztecs and India. (India has some nice sized troops). Their army is most likely weakened, and thier only resource is coal and have no trade routes, so they're obviously in pretty bad shape.

Despite they're being weak, I'm still voting yes as it will let us better plan how to use our resources across multiple fronts. I'd rather not send in huge numbers of troops if a few tanks can knock them over with their pinkies.

I'm voting no since I do not wish to see our current war enlarged.

Ok, the Zululand spy poll says the Zulus have an MPP with China. No mention of that here. Is there such a pact in place? If so then planting a spy in China may cause war with China, which may bring in the Zulus on an MPP, which may bring in Rome on another MPP.

Would the FA Dept. please clarify this?

Well, as stated earlier I voted no but now that I know we are already at war I think we should plant the spy.

Maybe once the wars are over, we should consider reposting these polls in light of the space race.
