Should we plant a spy in Rome?

This is a poll to determine if the Foreign Affairs Dept. should attempt to plant a spy in Rome. With a majority "yes" vote, FA will attempt to plant the spy here. With a tie or majority "no" vote, FA will not attempt to plant the spy. If circumstances or sentiment changes, or sufficient time has passed, FA may poll again. The polls will run up to the next Turn Chat on July 20.

FA will attempt to plant spies in the following fashion:
- Gather Approved spy list (greater than 50% support necessary).
- Attempt a single spy plant in one nation with the one attempt coming every 2 turns.
- Order of spy plants will be from the highest support from the polls to the lowest.

May I remind the risks of planting spies:
Target civ declaring war.
Total cost in gold (added up by every spy we plant).
Damaged reputation with the target civ.

May I remind the benefits:
Exact troop information.
Space Ship progress.
Other Espionage missions.

Rome Facts:
Cost: 72 gold
They are a Favoured Nation of ours.
They are a Republic and are researching Electricity or Industrialization.
We share a ROP with them.

Rome is too backward to pose any threat ever.
However, it is nice to know exactly what they have in case we get all militant and then we can decide howmany divisions to send to Rome and howmany are not needed.
Now would be a good time to plant a spy as the chances for sucess seem to be greater if the other nation does not have espionage. (At least I think)
I voted to abstain as I'd like to make sure other nations get spies planted first.

I forgot to mention they share a MPP with Zulu.

Our relations with Rome have improved over the centuries. Given this, the MPP with the Zulus and the fact that I see no need for a spy in Rome - I'm voting no.

In the next turn few turns, it is almost a sure thing we're going to war with Rome due to thier MPP w/ Zululand who has and MPP w/ China. By waiting until they actually do attack and catch us off guard, we're just setting ourselves up for a repeat of what happened in PDX! We need to get a spy in there, tell us thier strength and where thier troops are when we need to know. Look at how invaluable the spy in w/ the Iro's has been. The hawks of this nation pushed so hard to get a aggressive campaign agianst the Iro's out of revenge, but they won't take the nessesary steps to defend our own land?

We're going to war w/ Rome, if we don't I'll be shocked. We need to prepare now or pay for it later.

I have a feeling you won't be shocked Myartar, unless we get a MPP with Rome they will surely attack us soon. There is no point waiting dumbly until they do, we should not give them the element of surprise that the Iros had!! We don't want another PDX disaster!!!!!!
