  • Zarn

  • Abstain

    Votes: 4 14.8%

  • Poll closed .
Why can't they both be census officers?

We originally had two.

Anyone remember who was appointed census officer along with disorganizer?

Immortal?

noone... ;-)
i was from beginning.
its not possible cause its an update job for posts. only can be done by the user posting...
(census statistics that is).
the registry doesnt need any work at all.

That's what I thought

but if the one appointed "head of office" wants, he can always get a deputy for himself. maybe they could share the workload, pm each other the excel-file and cooperatively look thru the registry and one posts.
or maybe they could aggree one looks thru the registry and updates the excel, the other one does the statistics or something like that.
its up to the appointed head of the office how he/she runs it.

I can't find the old thread but I seem to recall that disorganizer and myself were dual appointments as the first census officials. I did the first unofficial census. :)

anyways, the problem would have been the updating of the posts, as this can only be done by the poster.

Well, since you asked....

I think the Census Office is responsible for providing up-to-date and easily accessed information on the populous and geography of our Nation. This includes compilations of the citzenry as a whole and based on geographic distribution.

In addition I think that the Census Officer can have a role in keeping the Registry information up-to-date through requesting missing info and through providing recommendations on needed information that will help in enhancing the game (and forthcoming RPG efforts).

Maybe it's because my background is in statistical geography, but why doesn't *everyone* want this job?

He's says up too date, but how often an upgrade is up to date. I say the citizens charts upgrades should be changed from one month to every ten days. Plus, I also have an extreme interest in geographic distribution. When ever I'm bored, I divide the world up into many different parts. The most important thing is, I'm always open to suggestions. Come on Kashmir, vote for your own.

Zarn's right in that "up-to-date" is a bit of a moving target. I think that weekly updates are probably more reasonable. Once a term is too far apart to be meaningful, as things change too quickly.

There is a sample of the type of weekly summary I'm talking about in:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20722

I'm not crazy about electioneering for this position, as it is really about providing good info to the leadership and citizenry. If Zarn's elected, great, I'll be deputy. If I'm elected, then I hope Zarn will be deputy. Either way, I'm sure we'll work together to have one kickass census department.

I hope so. It seems citizenry also want you to work together ;-)

Did you two already talk together about how u could organize working together? If no, please contact each other so you could start the work directly on appointment of one of you (or, if its a tie, i will propose both of you as equal ranked officers).

I would really like to see the best census department in the known world being improoved even more.

Of course I would.;)

Wish we did this w/ more elections so it wasn't so much of a gosh darn popularity contest.

Nice sig Myartar. ;)

I think both of these candidates should be in the census office. Any ideas on splitting the workload?

Thats my thoughts. Both complied, so this poll will propably be more like a "head of..." and "deputy" decision.
Any ideas how to split the work are highly appreciated, as i have no clue.

I am not worried about defining split of duties any more than other departments. Zarn and I will both have good ideas of things we need and want to do and will have a backup resource to cover any schedule needs. I would guess that the first "department meeting" will involve reviewing existing materials, coming up with a basic set of ongoing census deliverables and schedule and then brainstorming on special projects.
