Ok, those are all animations for the modern infantry. Please tell me what you think of it. Should the alternate victory animation be in the game?
(The unit is not yet in the game, I only exported one direction for this preview)

I want to release this unit as a complete package with sounds and pedia entry etc.
But I still need to look into this as I only concentraded on the animations right now.
Suggestions for unit stats are welcome but keep in mind that the unit should fit into normal civ3 (with weak marines and paratroopers).

I would also like to team-up with somebody who can do sounds. I´m not very good at making sounds and I don´t want to use sounds from already existing units.
Of course you will then have your own part in the readme file.
I will release the unit as soon as the sounds are complete, there´s no need to hurry.

That Modern Infantry guy looks awesome! I love the shell casings ejecting from the rifle as he attacks. And the alternate victory animation should definitely be included - "Hey, you just wasted a platoon of Commies, this Bud's for you!" (let people decide which one they want to use).

As for stats, maybe 8/14/1, Foot Unit, cost: 8 or 9. Maybe it should also be a no resource defender to replace the Rifleman for the Modern era.

Sorry though, can't help you with the sounds. It looks great; can't wait to get my hands on this one. :)

That looks sooooooo COOL! :goodjob: :goodjob:. How about using some of the marines sounds?

wow awesome unit! search on kazza or altavista for soldier wavs...ill have a quick look for you now :)

ok here are 3 gun shots in zip format

maybe this should be an ofensive infantry? or a an alternative for the current infantry as the current one is a WWI and this can, but doesn't look like it, be used as WWII Infantry. This is a kool unit and i can't wait. MAybe for run you can use the infantry run sound.

bit impatient aint we comando! lol :)

Balou,

Here is a sample sound set I put togerther for your Modern Infantry unit. There are two Attack.wav files to choose from as well as two Victory.wav files. I really like the beer drinking one, but I had a hard time finding anything that really fit it. I think Ed 'OWar's idea for using "this Bud's for you" is a great idea, but after searching for an hour I gave up hope of finding a .wav file for it. Maybe someone could just record it themselves. Anyway, great looking unit. Can't wait to use it.:goodjob:

Thanks for your comments.

I will then include both victory animations. Unfortunately you can´t use the alternate victory animation as fidget animation.
The fidget animation has to start and end with the default stance otherwise it will not loop smoothly.

I have some sounds from a smaller rifle (hk53) with the same caliber but the real problem is putting the sounds together.
I don´t have any experience with sound editing.
Anyway, maybe I will try myself at it in the next few days.
Thanks Polaris for the sounds, I like the death sound and one of the victory sounds.

I just took a look at the pedia things. I will also need to write a description for the unit plus the background info but my english is not very good. I need help for this too.
I think this unit should be from the 80´s or early 90´s. It should definitely replace the normal infantry but not be replaced by machinzed infantry. For the stats, 8/14/1 sounds good but it decreases the usefullness of the marine and paratrooper units.
Any more suggestions?

Again:
If you are willing to help me with the descriptions and/or the sounds contact me or just post here.

I can trim it down to two if needed. I really couldn't tell how many rounds he was firing. Also, I could substitute a full auto sound if anyone would rather have that.

Holy stinkin' crap! This guy rules!

Is he drinking beer from a case in the alternate victory? If he is, that one should definetely be used/included.

I want this guy NOW NOW... please... now?

BTW, in my book, Balou, you've already been elevated to the ranks of the master unit makers :D
