The Leibstandarte SS

SURPRISE!!!! [party]

With the help of W.I.N.T.E.R. we are also creating a :cooool:

unit called the Leibstandarte SS.
This unit was Adolf Hitler's SPECIAL GUARD. :ar15:

The fidget flc is from WINTER, the attack is from me.
Base model was the Waffen SS and the Fusilier/Wehrmacht

Let us know what you Great Civ III players think! :beer:

He can be used as a special defence UU.
I would maybe give for stats A/D/M/ 7/11/1 (adv: espionage)

Looks like he is modelled on the Rifleman. The only thing I can suggest is that there's too much smoke coming out of the barrel when he attacks. Otherwise, looks pretty cool.

Very nice yet again but i agree with Ed O'War to much smoke/shadow coming out after he fires, but how would you implement a unit in the game considering judging from the name that they were like the equivalent of the secret service for Clin... i mean Dubya. (i miss clinton!!!)

This is one of the "most awaited" units Im waiting for i cant wait to use it.

Some info...

- it is called "Leibstandarte Hitlers"

That means something like "Hitler's Personal Guards"
"der Leib" == "the body"
"die Standarte" = that's that has several meanings...
e.g. it can be the banner of motorized or horsed troops.
it can be the flag of a state leader (e.g. the personal flag of the monarch)

But "Hitlers Leibstandarte" was named so because in the SS a "Standarte" was the name for a company...

so you could say "Leibstandarte Hitlers" means "A SS company to guard or protect Hitler's body"

Looks good, but is there anyway you can change the pants/boots to look more like the fidget? Sween's right, the rifleman's pants do look like bell-bottoms, and are a bit inconsistent looking, but other than that, very nice.

Maybe if you gave him a longcoat instead? or would that make it look like he's got a dress on?

That is cool! If the rifle was replaced by that automatic rifle the Germans made but were developed too late to make any kind of difference in the war. As a matter of fact... I bet the Russians copied the the Germans Stg 44 automatic rifle design 'cause the similarities are quite... similar... Uh yeah. Take a look!

Great unit, the weapon kind of resembles the Karabiner 98K so if u ask me screw the StG44 keep the current weapon :ak47: as i remember it the Liebstandarte SS Adolf Hitler used the MP40 and the K98K more than the StG44 however there where plenty of other SS divisions that used the StG44. :ar15:

Also its not only a bet the that the russians copied the StG44 (As they did with everything else) its a fact,

No not really allthough its gramaticly correct it was called

Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler

Yeah, I just wanted to point out that it's written "Leib"

But wasn't it "SS Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler"?
I'm not sure but i can look in a book if somebody want's to know for sure...

The Attack Flc still needs some minor adjustments, I am aware of the "pants", the rifle smoke I'll see if I can tone it down a bit.
Overall, it's another addition to the AXIS army for Civ III :yeah:

Maybe i will use the Leibstandarte in my MOD as the SS, and not your Waffen SS..

This unit looks defenitely cool!
