After PtW is released, you will be able to add a total of 7 new civs. I'm trying to put together a list of what those civs should be so they can be made.

We have narrowed the list down to an elite 7. Now, we are discussing bonuses, uu's, and leaders.

THE ELITE 7
- Inca
- Ethiopia
- Polynesians
- Israel
- Poland
- Tibet
- Aborigine

They should have the Vikings and the Ottos. My opinion - usually the older the better. Exceptions, yes I know - Americans are very relatively new but have had a huge impact.

Mongols have had a crushing impact on the world. They were the first to control all of China - as well of virtually all of Asia and some of the Middle East.

That list - of civs that should be in PTW? If so then the Byzantines should not be included - or if they are, they could be the civ that rises after the Romans die out. They are virtually the same as the Romans, just that they survived the barbarian attacks.

The Spainish should definintly be there. Maybe the Portugese? They completely redid the world as we know it - traveled and established colony after colony. Italians should be in there, maybe.

Well I've always been a *huge* fan of Oceania, and as such, I'd love to see the Hawaiians in the game. Or at least the Polynesians in general. They were incredible seafaring folk, and the Hawaiian Monarchy was a recognized independent power for a time, before the U.S. 'culturally absorbed' it.

Other than that, I believe the civilization of Mali was quite astonishing for its time. Europeans were astounded by the empire, it's vast riches, and incredible commercial trade. Not much for science or military, but they could scam the fillings out of your teeth. It was also quite large.

The Anasazi may be a good choice, but I think Native America is more than represented by now...

Catholics could be interesting. Not an empire in the technical sense, but arguably, it has held more power than any other civilizations in the game. They built wonders, held cities, had leaders and such, so you could count them... I s'pose. It'd be a stretch.

Portugese is a likely choice, but they're boring. Same with Italy, no offense intended. Too many European civs already.
And I suppose that's all I have to say. I'll shut my trap now ^_^

I don't think you understand what I am trying to do. I am keeping the civs that will come with PtW. The editor will allow you to have 31 civs, and after PtW comes out that leaves 7 civs that you can add. I'm trying to make those civs.

I mentioned that in my first post, and that's why they are questionable. As far as the Italians go, (don't get me wrong I'm Sicilian, myself) but they really weren't a united civilization until recently and still have hard times pulling it together. The civilizations that haved ruled Italy are more fit. (Read the Civilopedia entry for the Italians on my Guerilla Tactics Website). Thanks for your input! :)

Veera Anlai, I'll look into Mali. Portugese is a civ that probably should be in the game, but Spain is close enough. If somebody could talk me into it, maybe I'll think about Portugese.

i think israel should be changed into hebrews or jews.
byzantines is a good idea for a medieval civ.

i would suggest:
polynesians (a must), or to be more general, austronesians or malayo-indonesians, or 2 civs can be made: polynesians and malays
mayans
a native north american civ
poles
huns or avars
tibetans (most people will disagree, but i like these people)
songhai or mali

perhaps new wonders of the world based on these civs can be made too. i've always wanted Hagia Sophia to be included, but i don't hav the means to do it.

Incase, Maya, Portuguese... All the popular list + Hebrews/Israelites

I would call the Israeli's Israel, because their golden age was most likely under King David.

the mayans were elimated a few days back because they are so similar to the aztecs as far as culture, and were also their ancestors. besides, we could use that space for another civ. i'll put them on the list as questionable. please let me know why or why not the mayans and byzantines should be in the game.

looks like portugese is pretty popular so far. i'll add them to the list. but what would be their uu?

Err...how about the Dutch...and William the Silent?

For Portugal? There are a few UU's they could use; most of them are UU's that the Spanish could also use. Does anyone know what UU Spain will be using?

Inquisitor - During the late 1100's, the Portuguese were attempting to rid their lands of the Moors, just like the Spanish. The 'Inquisitors' were in charge of removing the foreigners.

Crusaders - You know the Crusades, right? Well Portugal sent quite a few knights out there to kill some infidels.

Knights of Christ - One of the elite orders of Portugal, and partially governed by the Vatican. This is probably the unit most unique to Portugal, but I can see why this would be difficult to implement.

Portugal was also a *very* maritime culture, so there could be a unique Sea Unit buried somewhere in their history. Doubtful though.

Below is a link to more info about the Knights of Christ

the byzantines by no means whatsoever should be considered. They ARE the romans; just a later people. They were the eastern (I think) branch of the fallen Roman Empire, and are thusly direct descendents of the Romans.

It would be like having both the Boetians and the Greeks.

Anyways, I think some civs that should be included are:

Jewish
Portugal
Ethiopia
Incas
Assyrian or Hittite
and from personal liking - Macedon ;)

Ok, here's the list so far:
- Ethiopia
- Inca
- Israel
- Mali
- Macedon
- Portugal
- Polynesians
These are by no means set in stone. Argue amongst yourselves, and me, so we can get an elite 7.

Here you go, civfans. A preview of Empress Zawditu of the Ethiopians in ancient times. Industrial and Modern will be a cinch. But Middle ages will be pretty hard.

BTW: I accidently went over the 2 modern flics for the Zulu leader (the file name for this is ZA_A01, similar to Zulu's ZU) and I saved it over the wrong file. So, if somebody could please give me those, it would be appreciatted.

Songhai should be in, they were fairly rich, and their conquerers, Morocco, should also be included. Also, Sween, I will gladly send you the files, I just need your email, and should they be zipped or unzipped? Also, I believe Israel should be called Judea or Palestine, for Israel is too modern a name for a civilization that has been around since Assyrian times.

Weren't they called Israel under King David? Judea would work, too.

Palestine? :rotfl:

Palestine is the name the Romans gave the area in 70AD after they expelled the Jews/Israelites/Hebrews.

There is no Palestinian culture, no Palestinian civilization, No Palestinian ethnicity and no Palestinian language.

Palestine is just the name the romans gave the area to wipe out all remembrance of the Jews.

I'd vote for:

Incan
Portuguese
Dutch
Polynesian
Australian - I know they're newcomers but there's a continent there to use
Israel
Slavs - maybe use cities from former (and current) Yugoslavia, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech republic, etc. Although never one nation, neither were the Celts and they're going to be in PtW.

Taking the existing Civs (and the PtW additions) the map looks like this.

Europe
Roman
English
German
French
Greeks
Celts
Spanish
Vikings

Africa
Egypt
Zulu
Carthagian

Asia/Middle East
Russia (Eurasian, I guess)
Babylon
Persia
Japan
China
Korean
Ottomans (again, iffy since Turkey is Europe)
Arabs
Mongols
Korean

Oceania
- none -

North America
Iroquis
America

South America
Aztec

As for added civs...

Polynesians - Agreed, I'm doing a 'quick' mod that replaces the Americans with them :)
Dutch - Squashing them into Europe however
Scots/Picts - NOT the same as the Celts. But like the Dutch, it'll be a squeeze.
Aborigine - As JBearIt said, there's a whole continent to use there, with the Polynesians and the Aborigine, that will help to fill the Oceania area.
Inuit - Another 'native American tribe' that should be there before the Americans ;)
Incan - Certainly, apart from the Mayans the only real Civ that could be added.
African Civ - Not 100% on what would be a 'good' civ for there, but people are saying Ethopia, so why not :)
