I'm thinking of doing some middle eastern industrial era units, but it will probably be horse based rather than camels unless I can find some good footage of camels in action (Running etc...).
Yeah I checked out a JimmyH camel unit, and it ran like a pantomime horse! (two guys in a horse suit). Perhaps camels realy do run like that, though I'm not sure
I like the second guy you posted, I'm going to do an Eastern rifleman and eastern cavalry; do you think he would be good for the cavalry? I'm ony going to do one (camel or horse, not both) so which should I do? The camel rider would look great and would be good for the middle eastern and north african civs- but I'm asuming that the horse would be better in combat? (while being faster across difficult terrain like deserts). Also the horseman would be more suitable for indian turkish, and southern soviet states (afganistan, mongolia etc...).
How widespread is the use of camels? I asume they are usualy restricted to desert areas.
My understanding is that camels are pretty fast, and I think they are better suited to desert terrain than horses are due the larger feet. I also am under the impression that they look pretty awkward when running.
I think it would be cool to have some camel units, hence the post , but understand that they are not for everyone.
there are two types of camels Bachtrian with two humps and dromedary with 1 hump. Its easy to remember which is which because two humps looks like a B and 1 hump looks like a D.
