Thank you to dark Sheer for creating the Musket Infantry, of which this unit is a blatant modification! :goodjob:

This unit is for use with the Scotish Civ, now that Sween32 has posted his quite frankly amazing Robert Bruce leaderhead.
I couldn't get the tartan kilt quite right, so it's a flat colour, but he does still look the part. When I have more time I may go back to finish the detail. Otherwise he still makes a damn fine rifleman replacement, if I dare say so myself.

Let us know if there's too many innacuracies.

New kilt design coming soon.

Thats great work labmonkey. Sween will love that. I love it! Can't wait to add it to my scots civ.

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! :jump:
YEEEEEHAAWWW!!!! :rotfl:
Great job, lab monkey! Looks perfect to me!

Looks great!

No idea how you guys manage this stuff, anything I do would look like a blob.

Good day to release this unit, lab monkey. Five years ago today the Scots broke the union with England and made their own Parliament. :goodjob:

1. It definitely needs tartan on the kilt. And the tartan shouldn't be civ-specific, or you'll have English Guardsmen with bright orange kilts!

2. I'm not quite sure what the cap is supposed to be. It kinda looks like a triangular cap, with the left side 'up', as it were. I'm thinking that the helmets the Royal Palace guards use would be better - forget what they're called, but they're tall, black and fluffy :)

3. Dunno if anyone else has noticed this (it's the same with Dark Sheer's unit), but the rifle appears bent when from the left side, but straight when viewing from the right. Is it supposed to be like that? I'm talking specifically about the default flc, but it could be the same with the others.

P.S. Sween32, you seem awfully keen on Scotland - u have relatives here?

nope. i'm mostly sicilian. i also have irish and german in me. i could go get stress/temper medication just by telling a doctor what's in my blood. my stepfather is scottish and most people say i resemble him more then anything. my fuse is very short, but then again it has to be since i'm only 5'4''.

i find the scots fascinating. such a small country was just unstoppable, but didn't really expand their borders. with their aggresiveness and master of their warfare, they could have been a major force in the world with much more land... but they stayed where they were. that shows more love for their land then any other country in history that i know of.

Scots conquered the world in another way: engineering. From France to China, Scots engineers have been called upon throughout history for their skills. And why didn't we expand our borders? Why, we wouldn't want to live anywhere else :)

An interesting fact: scientists, after studying Scottish and English geology, have come to the conclusion that that the two were most likely seperate land masses, brought together by continental drift. Their ain't no place like home!

zulu, yes i know about the engineering. "we wouldn't want to live anywhere else " that's why i said that shows more love for their land then any other country in history, because they had every chance to conquer. btw, that looks like a big fluffy hat to me...

nonnob, I believe my grandfather was from Palermo. I also have some Naples Italian in me.

Damn, Zulu! Doesn't that hat look tall, black and fluffy enough for you?! He's not supposed to have a ruddy gorrilla on his head! ;)

This unit does not work in the game. I think there is something wrong with one of the flc files. Does anyone esle have Problems??

If they were so bad-ass why didn't the scots beat the snot out of the arrogant english and send them all a'packing? Ship 'em over to Africa or somewhere that they wouldn't be able to bother anyone. That would have solved a lot of problems.

Zulu dude, those hats are called bearskin hats and I agree, a little bigger and fluffier would be better on the unit. About halfway to being a ruddy gorilla is how it should look.

damnit! you bruised my ass! my girlfriends gonna think i'm doin some othe chick!

well, the fact that English have always outnumbered the Scots by about 10 to 1 might have something to do with it :crazyeye:. And England had better trade links with Europe.

Well, that is the problem (or advantage :p ) with non-3D based animation as I draw each of the Musket for all the eight directions. So I only look at each direction seperately and due to that two opposite direction might not look identical. ;) If you observe carefully, in one (yes, only one) of the run direction the unit actually carry the musket in his hand instead of resting it on his shoulder. :D

By the way, good conversion, Lab Monkey. :goodjob:

That's why we Vikings never invaded Scotland :)

My parents are Swedish and Icelandic, but I have parts of Valons (Belgium?), French, Irish(I think..), and some other countries in me... I really need to do some research on that :D

Labmonkey: I realy like your customiszed unit, I think the hat is about right (three of my relatives were in the scotts guards).
However, Ive seldom seen such a red kilt; most of those Ive seen were mostly dark green/blue, and the red ones I have seen were much darker; One sugestion would be to use Civ colour 11 rather than 1, as it is dark red.

Here is another sugestion;

he did say he hadn't done the kilt right; and I think the kilt should be done properly (without civ-specific colours) - see Thomson's Clan Warrior for a pretty good example.
