I am starting this discussion thread to try and get a feel for the will of the people in regards to the Long-Term Growth of our Nation. I intend to run an informational poll on Friday sometime with the map below. There may not be a substantial opinion of the people to expand in one direction or another, but that is why I am starting the discussion thread. To help the Domestic Department learn this.

At present we have 5 different ways to expand. With the only available settler en route to the Iron East of Bavaria, we need to examine our priorities for Long-Term (or Long-Range) Growth. Beyond the 3 or 4 city placements close to Bavaria (which have already been discussed), which direction would you like to see Fanatika grow? NW, W, SW, S, SE.

i would propose the souther 3 directions to secure the valey in the mountains and to get nearer to our arch-enemies.

i would propose SE to secure the gold, then south then south west. then south and south east to secure the rest of the valey, to the sw after that to go further west.

if we attack the aztecs, this will give us a connected tile of land.
mabye we even are on an paninsula with a small landbrige (se of us? maybe ocean near the aztecs?) so we could even try to cut the possible continent or 2 paninsulaes in half with our land.

We should go towards the south-eastern wheatfields. I want to live down there where it is warm. :)

If we could afford to set up a satellite settler factory in those wheatfields, situated to utilized the local fishing and horses, it would be a gold mine for Fanatika. From there we could not only expand to the NE but also to the W. But we would need to move quickly, as I'm sure that will be a popular spot. It looks to be about 13 moves from Bavaria. I think both Dis and Donsig have hit on a key move here.

I second that. Didnt even look there at first, but i think se is the way to expand. Will also cut the continent/island in half.
