First, a huge round of applause to the scenario maker veterans for their patience and helpfulness. (I can't believe how nice you are to us new arrivals even after the 49th time we ask the same question).

Second, I am finishing work on the first scenario I have ever felt like posting. It is a scenario about the first stage of the Independence War of Mexico from Spain (Sept 1810 to mid 1811).
This scenario will have my favourite features:
- Few unit types to figure out and not too many units to move around.
- A single city to start out with.
- A little known setting (at least to others ).
- Tactics and strategy. You cannot just pump out units, so you are going to have to think carefully about what to do with them.
- Tech. Why use Civ2 if you don't use the tech tree?

The dilemma of the scenario is the following:
As in real history, enthusiasm is high at the beginning and you get alot of units. Your enemy is unprepared and you pretty much plow the land with your army. However, you cannot replace you army. The enemy, though off-guard, is superior in all respects... You need to gain an advantage... Should you go in a victory-or-death drive to take Mexico City? Should you develop an economy to have cash and science more handy? Get help from the young US? Fight a defensive war while agitating all over the country to keep the enemy busy?

Third. I need help on the following finer points:
a) Does anyone know of any source for uniforms in Spanish colonies around 1810? (I am about to give up searching and just use the peninsular campaign spanish uniforms)
b) Any ideas? Suggestions? Questions? (I hope to have a playtest version somehow available soon?
c) A question that seems rather dumb, but nevertheless I do not know the answer. What is the best way to make screenshots of Civ2 situations?

Four. Sample units. a) The priest Hidalgo, leader of the independence movement and "father" of Mexico. b) People in Arms (the middle guy does need some legs, i notice). c) El Pipila, Another national hero. This guy burned the doors of a fortress carrying a slab of stone on his back for protection!

Ugh. That Hidalgo sure looks ugly. Let me try again. (Actually, they all look far from perfect - any help or suggestions are appreciated.)
Anyone know why Hidalgo's coat became white? (I used the first color in the unit palette, which looks pretty black to me, except when I upload it...)

Sounds like a brill scenario project :) -I don't know much about spanish uniforms, but to make screenshots, you can simply press "print screen" once, and then open your favourite image processor (I usually use Paintshop Pro), and choose 'paste'.

Hola El Leon!!!
Vamos!!! Te esperamos en Apolyton!!! :goodjob:

Thanks for the help and invites. That print screen is one of those really obvious things one should know. (Can't wait for that Malvinas scenario, Academia)

Anyway, here are some cities from Mexico graphics. The latter does not really work in the environment like it should, but I like it. They are not final.

So about how long do you think it will take to finish your scenario?

I moved from one city to another recently and have had since to reformat a computer, lost my CIV2 CD and been caught up with tribulations of the real world. But I have not given up. Give me a month or so. This will be done by Nov. 21, I hope.

The scenario should be ready shortly, in the meantime...

Insurgente Mapa... (look at my username)

Looks like it'll be a nice scenario.

As you may have noticed, the scenario is in Spanish. Soon will be translated... Playtesting first, though (which has already uncovered major problems). Still, I hope it will be ready Nov 21.

Insurgent... great username. The insurgents are of course, the protagonists of my scenario. Very important word in Mexico, let me tell you. We even have a street in Mexico city called Insurgentes.

The scenario is finished at last. However, it is in Spanish, but if there is enough interest out there I might even translate it...

Where the heck do I post it? I cannot post more than 100 k here, it seems, and I don't want to break it into little bits. You may find it at Apolyton in the Scenario league section, but I would prefer to put it somewhere around here also..
