Now that more time is being spent on checking games, how long on average do you guys expect to take on checking games? Should we be looking out for results say 3 weeks after the submission due date??

I think (I hope) after ending the debate about reloading and accepting the rules for that, results will be checking up to 2 weeks (since next month).:)

Interestingly the first data punch-cards were developed by Hollerith because the US census taken every ten years was taking more than 10 years to process. (yes I know about Jacquard cards)

Are we heading for a situation where GOTM results take more than 1 month to process??

I cant even remember what kind of game GOTM11 was!

I can't comment on the processing of this months results, however I know that Matrix has other commitments and is extremely busy. Please don't give him a hard time about it - he does a great job, and with the need to check all the save games, it really does add to the workload.

There are steps being taken to streamline the process, so hopfully from November / December onwards the results will be a bit more timely. In the interim, please be patient. :)

I hope I wasnt being interpreted as putting pressure on Matrix. He does a great job.

My point is that GOTM is now so successful that its too big a job for one person doing it manually.

Glad to hear steps are in hand. I think you can assume that GOTM will continue to grow. You need to plan for next years numbers not this years!

as a recent discoverer of this cite (GOTM12 was my first game here) I just want to add in my thanks for the incredible amount of effort that has been put building this community already.
If, aside from participating and having fun there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
It seems like a lot of the benefit of the GOTM is the spoiler thread where people are discussing their strategies and outcomes from the game. I dont know if the actual results are most important.
I dont know if it would be easy, or even worth while, but maybe a preliminary score chart could be posted just using the info from peoples submission emails??
anyway, I think its a pretty great system as it stands. thanks again.

Yes I started playing GOTM a few days ago and started with GOTM11 when I realised that I might as well get stuck into GOTM12 and submit a score. I also think I have learned much in the discussions. Thanks for all the work that's gone on to get things to where they are.
