Well, we've tried it just about every other way thus far this term, but maybe we should back up and start it once more and take our time to get it right....

Our great nation needs to establish Provincial Borders! Without Provincial Borders, we cannot have governors, and governors are an essential part of our government.

This thread has been established to facilitate discussion, debate and proposals to assist in developing the poll which will finally resolve this very important matter.

All citizens are encouraged to participate in this discussion and the related poll (not posted yet).

Here are links to the five most recent proposals at the time of this posting.

Small Provinces by Stuck_As_a_Mac

One of the first maps, with provinces extending south into Aztec lands.

Capitol Access by disorganizer
Original Post
Geographically based borders providing almost-equal access to the corruption benefits of the capitol city.

Strictly Geographic by FortyJ
Original Post
Another geographically based proposal resulting in somewhat larger provinces.

Capitol Province by FortyJ

This map provides a city-state type province for Bavaria with three neighboring, geographically based provinces.

Nordic Gem Mountains by Chieftess
Original Post
This map combines geographical boundaries with cultural and political borders.

I've come up with my own proposal, taking into consideration geographic borders. I mainly used mountians, along with forest edges and the Aztec river to draw up these borders. Also, note I refrained from drawing borders in the dark. These should all be filled in as we discover. Once we explore the sea better, provincial borders should be set at the line where sea ends and ocean beings.

Warning: This is a large file. I've refrained from posting it here for that reason.

Border Proposal

At SaaM's request, I've redone my proposals to include the map of the world as we know it now:

Proposal 1 - Strictly Geographic (259kB)

Note: I removed the 'Eastern Gate' Province from the original version (240kB) of this map b/c I felt it should be defined later after more of the surrounding terrain has been defined.

Proposal 2 - Capitol Province (263kB)

This design creates a single city province for our nation's capitol, and establishes three neighboring provinces.

Proposal 3 - Strictly Geographic² (263kB)

This design is based on the Capitol Province idea, but incorporates the Bavaria and Morgana into the 'Northern Tundra' province.

Note: The names included in these maps are not official and are intended solely to facilitate discussions. No assumption of naming rights was intended.

Well, I had submitted my own proposal for Bohemia Province with the cities we are now planting already located on it, over a month ago. But as so much time has passed, I'm now leaning towards the Capital Province by FortyJ (Shaitan's original).

Cyc - I think I found it. Here's your original proposal for consideration as well. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I like Proposal #3. Though when we get Tenochtitla The border would have to be modified to hold the city's 3*3 tile radius and also set asside when the city's borders increase when it adtains enough culture. I would propose that the provance of "Big Valley" should have its southern border accomidate the Tenochtitla city, when we capture it. :).

A city may have tiles outside its provinces border. We dont have to stick borders to city limits.
(otherwise we would change them constantly)

Proposal is OK with me :). As long as Govenor A in "The great Valley" and Govenor B in "Provance #n" both agree on having Tenoch's Citizens working Govenor B's borders ;) :).

My favorate propsal is #3 :)

Thank you for posting that map 40J. I still like that proposal. Believe it or not, that Province is less than half the size of a normal Province in Demogame1.

Although I'm leaning towards the Capital Province now, in the first poll of these choices, I voted for #3 (Strictly Geographic). In fact, it replaced Fionn's Flag as the background for my desktop.
